M135i Consumption LOL!

So the main reason why I religiously stuck to my 4 pot turbo BMW's is due to consumption concerns on the x35's. Especially since I had a 3.0T Audi A6 a few years ago and for the life of me, I couldn't get within a country mile of the quoted consumption.

Anyways, so I picked-up the car from JSN on Friday and as I got on the N1 at William Nicol I decided to reset the computer, plonk it in Eco and stick to the speed limit (kinda achieved that... kinda LOL). Air con set to 16 degrees on medium speed and 35 degrees C outside, the car finished on 5.8l/100km when I got to Lynwood. :roflol::roflol::roflol:

Doing the same in my 328, best I ever achieved was 5.1 and that car had 2 less cylinders and about 50kw less power! Saying that I am impressed would be the understatement of the century :blowheart:

Just a word of caution... x35's are really quite good cruising on the highway. Around town, that's a whole different ball game...

i get the same on the highway:rollsmile:

In town i get about 9.5 - 10.5 l/100km. Depending on traffic. My Golf R was a lot heavier :roflol:

My consumption in town was around the 15.5 mark. But that was cos I was making sure my TCS light was working (all the time LOL) :=):

M135i is light on fuel well that is driver dependent :roflol: I get 550km on tank mostly highway not even using eco pro mode, stop start traffic is another story

I only manage 8.0l/100km while cruising the freeway

On a full tank, I get between 450-500km

Imagine telling someone 20years ago that in the future, you will be able to drive a 2 or 4 door hatchback with 320hp, that does 0-100 in 4.9s using a 8speed autobox all whilst returning 5.8l/100km on the highway cycle... I bet they would tell you to stop dreaming and get a life.

Fuel consumption is something that an individual can only measure against themselves.Your own driving style and area of residence is too different to others to make any comparisons.
Max i understand exactly where you are coming from.I to had the F30 328i that averaged 8.6 litres/100km after 2000km.My M135i after 4000km is sitting at 9.3 litres/100km where it seems to have stabilised.
This is a very small difference to pay for those extra 2 cylinders and the extra 1000cc.That difference in pricing is made up very quickly in the form of JOY.
Just a tip to share. If you are looking at fuel consumption as criteria refer to the Car magazine and you will see there is a column devoted to the CO2 emission. These are the pages where they give their performance etc.
The F30 328i has a CO2 rating of 147g/km and the M135i is 175g/km CO2.A difference of only 16% compared to a difference of 33% in engine size.
All proof of the efficiency standard that the N55 has. :clapper:
