How hard would it be to get this kind of engine running with aftermarket management? I've heard from some people that it can be very difficult though they where referring to an S54 engine, so I assume that the older engines might be a bit easier to get going than the new ones.

Either way if you choose to do this, you should move closer to PTA....so that I that I can also get in on some of the action, I'm burning to start a project car again :), but I just don't have the funds at the moment (and the space for that matter)

lol, nah, I don't think it will be too hard, like, I would probably have converted the distributor to coilpacks and put a timing wheel on the crank somewhere... S54 is a whole different beast with vanos and all sorts of things..

haha, funny you should say that .. I am acctually moving to East London at the beginning of march :/ .. A friend and I are opening a workshop/garage there .. but I will probably be in jhb often enough to have some fun ;) ..

@Sanky please pm me your number again dude, I remember I had it but lost it..

@clutchplate: I am just wondering wouldn't it be a heck of a job to get this into a e46 without a donor car? And if you get a donor car, then you won't really need this stuff as you will have all the stuff from the donor.
This engine in an e46 would be awesome though :)

Hey Sanky .. nagh, just need to make mountings and run aftermarket management.. not sure if I'm still gonna do it. just wanna see how things pan out here...

oh btw, there are a couple of these starters on ebay for like 450 bucks ..

@fordkoppie, also saw one or two gearboxes for around 3K if u wanted one seperate ...

Spit it out:spit:. Lol
Where can you get those boxes. Please PM me the details.
Concerning the e46 with the M88 - i think it would be a waste of time, since these engines weigh more than a V8 M60. Also, they are +/- 100mm longer than the M54.
To be honest, I think a “mildly tuned” M54b30 330i e46 will outrun an e46 with this engine. The 210KW figure they suggest might be true, but these engines are peaky and does not have a wide spread torque delivery.

All existing est. shops are "choked"
