I struggle to understand why they forced this on people. It was taking just as long as card transactions and longer than a normal 'tap and go' transaction. This is not a problem at events at Kyalami.
This is for the benefit of the event organizers only (maybe at a stretch) who now don't have to bother engaging with networks in theory... and in practice, this was not an event held in the middle of nowhere eg: Afrika Burn. You still needed to load the money onto the card using cash (which you could have used directly with a vendor and not had the overhead) or card (saving on congestion how?)
Looking at the T's and C's
Requesting your money back requires a R20 service fee (over and above the R15 for the card) and only within 14 days
The card is NOT USABLE at any other howler event and is event specific.
There is an ONLINE CONVENIENCE FEE to load online as opposed to an actual person doing actual work in front of you which is somehow free (ticketmaster scam model)
An expensive solution to a non-existent problem that the event-goer is liable for... and the agency is probably taking a massive comm from...
