M Coupe S54 AC Schnitzer Numbers

The problem here is, these cars are certainly appreciating in value, but current values are not high enough to justify selling. Looking at recent sale prices, what do you replace it with once sold? A Golf R, M235i, used E92 M3? Theoretically speaking, even if I get a million for the car, for me personally, there is no other car that pulls at my heart strings as much as this car. I can't think of anything which will fill the empty void for me personally. It's one of those cars that I will certainly always regret selling.

I suspect most owners have similar feelings.

It is something special just to look at, never mind the raw driving experience. It's a timeless design and every time I walk past it I get a smile on my face.

Good luck sourcing one.

IL pm it to you, it was sort of a barn find, car was last licensed/driven in 2009. Owner abandoned it and It's been standing since, needs a full body detail and oil changes and brought back to life.

Congratulations designa!

I've always had a soft spot for ACS Z3M's. Definitely a car in my dream garage, next to an M3 CSL, of course.

Thread revival...

Do you perhaps known the numbers of the normal z3m with colours etc?

Also how do you tell if motor is s50 or s54? S54 was also fitted to z4m (e46 m3 engine)

Did the z3m come with m3 e36 engine 2 door (3l i6) and the 4 door (3.2l i6)?

Thanks for help. Wiki shows all stats but not specific to SA cars..

S54 engine shroud would look totally different so just pop bonnet - also I think all SA Z3M S54s were AC Schnitzer cars (I might be wrong)

All the S50 versions were 3.2.

In SA, the easiest way to determine if a Z3 M is an S54 version is to look out for the AC Schnitzer kit (its obvious). Other ways are to look out for grey dials on the cluster, or as Thomas mentioned, just open the bonnet.

There were 186 South African S50 M Coupes, colour breakdown as follows:

SILVER: 58 (Arctic in 1999 only and Titanium in 2000 or late 1999)
ESTORIL BLUE: 50
COSMOS BLACK: 29 (not Sapphire Black as per S54)
ARCTIC WHITE: 19
DAKAR YELLOW: 15
IMOLA RED: 8
EVERGREEN: 7

As AdiS mentioned, all S50 cars had the S50B32 motor.

To identify an S54 car without looking at the engine or Schnitzer parts, in the interior there are grey dials in the instrument cluster and centre console. There will also be a DSC button. The telltale exterior feature is subtle, but the S54 has convex shaped ///M Badges, where the S50 has flat badges. This goes for the rear and side badges. The rear badge is also located lower down on the hatch, 23mm from the bottom edge vs 65mm for the S50.
