M Badges

Bought 2 metal ///M badges, one for the boot lid and one for the bonnet grill. Undecided about where to put the grill badge, is there a specific spot? It has those stud screws that go through the bonnet grill/kidney grill to the other side to screw into the plates provided...suggestions?

Also, how can I secure the boot badge becuase it only has 3M tape and I'm sure it won't be long before someone swipes it...

I guess each to their own... What is on the back of your car is for whats under the bonnet, and considering you bought an M badge for there, its obviously not an M.

W-ell its going to go next to the 318i badge, coz the car has the Motorsport package, i.e. all the badges and sport bumpers/rims and trimmings/badges inside incl. bucket seats, sports suspension and steering wheel incl. dsc dynamics..surely that's M enough...even though the engine is standard...I'm not claiming to have an M engine, just an M package.

As i said, each to their own. Myself and a lot of people on this forum wont agree with it, but if you want to do it. Go for it.

I don't see it as a bad thing, or anything wrong with putting an M badge on the car which is classified as motorsport in the log book/according to bmw, it's not like fraudulent to claim, its a 318iM. Besides I think the M badge got swiped from the previous owner, becuase there's also the 'i' missing next to '318'. A sport package bought from the dealer deserves a little recognition and pride.

People that know these cars will recognise exactly what you have and appreciate it for it. Putting the badge on will tell them that you don't.

Don't take it personally, I had an M badge on my 330d and only when I saw it on another car like it, did I realise it was wrong in so many ways, so yes I'm biased to not putting it on at all. I also have the sport pack. I learned to love the OEM look more and more over time, and I love the OEM wheels in your sig, please keep them as well.

The subtle trimmings on the sport/individual is what makes it uniquely BMW. That's what they are famous for, being ultimate sleepers. Keep it that way. Your car looks great as is!

Thanks...makes sense. Guess I just go a bit over the top coz I love the brand, just can't keep up with the top end, so I try to show allegiance and pride all the way from the bottom of the chain :fencelook:

Much appreciated feedback

Car looks very neat, and the colour and package suit it very well.

Nothing wrong with a 318i hey, it's still a BMW

Agreed, car looks great how it is. An M sport e46 is always a looker, even if it is just a 318i  i vote just leave her how she is.
