Just to be safe.

When I got my 335i the car was debadged and only had a M at the back, stripes on the grill and a few other ///M things here and there. one of the first things I did was remove the M and the grill stripes and bought the 335i badges from a second hand dealer

I love my 335i that's what I wanted, that's what I bought, would rather have an authentic 335i than a fake ///M my car is great and I don't pretend it to be something it is not

But I agree to each there own, shit I have gold mags for crying out loud so I might be the biggest hypocrite

BMW themselves are putting M badges on every non M car so we cant hate on people for putting M badges on Non M cars.

I thought I was the only one who saw ////M coming with a single exhaust

M-sport doesnt automatically upgrade you to an ///M, it is just a package like I have satnav in mine so I should go an slap some Navi stickers on the fenders, grill and boot lid because I have an idrive package . Some people make me laugh :biglol:

I think........

Standard or Exclusive or Luxury Line car with ///M Badges - No....No :RedNo: :YesNo:

M-Sport with factory M Badges on door sills, steering, rims - Fine as the car looks different to a standard car

M-Sport with ///M on boot-lid or anywhere else or striping - Not an ///M sunshine :thumbdo:

Newer cars like the M 135i etc, I think those are acceptable as the vehicles have achieved superior performance levels over the rest of the range. However this always causes debate.

The addition of an ///M badge on a M Sport vehicle's boot-lid is a customer request, the dealer simply removes the badge and puts the M badge on or just adds the ///M to existing badge so u get a 320i ///M 320d ///M or the owner just adds it on according to personal preference. I had a look at a few F30 brochures and the ///M on the bootlid is not listed as part of the MSport pack,
so its a request. I could be wrong about the 135i M Sport which may have a ///M badge at the back from factory.

But it all comes down to personal taste, I mean you can spec a stock 320i F30 with a full M-performance exterior package with full M-performance stripes etc
which looks amazing but has a mismatch in terms of looks vs performance.

I've owned a variety of M-Sport vehicles but never stuck a ///M badge on any of them, because that badge represents something special to me, ///Motivation and Inspiration. I don't want to be lured to a false sense of being special when I know what I aspire to own someday. Again this is a matter of personal taste.

Lol M anything is a bad canof worms to open. No M badges, the colours IMO are aceptable though to show respect to the heritage of motorsport. :coolShake:

If it's not there from the factory. Then don't fuck it up. Pure and simple. It looks stupid, out of place and you will be mocked from 70% people on the road.

The only badge that counts is the one on the back. Msport cars do not come with that badge, thus should not install it on their car. You can put as many as you went anywhere else, but the space on the boot by the car series number is reserved for ///M cars.

You look like a real loser when your car says ///M325i or ///M318i. Eish.

My 1 cent and a half.

To each his own , its their car they can do whatever they want to do with it , But my opinion is that it looks stupid , everyone can see its a standard car , unless the car came like that from factory then thats another story .

On the other hand , My E30 for some reason always had an M badge on the grill and an M badge at the back , I always thought that my dad had probably stuck it there but then again they were original parts and the grill badge isnt just a stick on thing , his not much of a "Sports" car person so he wouldn't care for anything like that .

They were really pitted and faded so I went to Bmw and asked to buy them , they refused to sell it to me saying its only for the IS , They asked for my VIN number so they could do a check, Called factory , filled in some forms and guess what the car DID come from factory with those badges . So I was allowed to buy them. I haven't stuck them on yet.

So if the car does come from factory , If its marketing or not , If it did come from factory with it , that to me is keeping the car original , So I don't see it as a problem. But if you stick M badges on a car that's clearly not meant to have them then I think its silly and looks out of place. I would never put M badges on my E46 or on the F30 .

This is where BMW is messing it up a bit. There's no clear definition of what is what now, if they're sticking the ///M badge on the back of cars that arent the typical M cars.
This coupled with the fact that an M-Sport car has the badge everywhere else nowadays, makes people think "well why not put one on the back as well"

Its like "Here's your nice new M-Sport car. We've put the M badge EVERYWHERE so you can feel like you have the top premium line.. but heaven HELP YOU if you stick one on the back as well. That spot is not for you!"

Preach!

BMW is like Oprah: "You have an M badge, and YOU have an M badge, M badges for EVERYONE!"

I blame their idiotic marketing department again.
