BMW M GmbH (previously: BMW Motorsport GmbH) is a subsidiary of German car manufacturer BMW AG.

BMW M, also known as M-Technik or just "M" (for Motorsport) was initially created to facilitate BMW’s racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicles portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.

Guys, This topic may get a few backs up. I have read many posts where 335 owners have compared their cars to be faster than the M3.

Maybe after software and stuff the x35i owners can compare their straight line speeds to a M car,i have raced my e46 M3 against stock x35i
and the 46 M3 came out on top every time so i dont see why an e90/92 M3 cannot be faster in all aspects. My 335i is quicker with software then my x46 M3 but the M3 shows its true potential in the corners and handling capabilities,my 335i comes nowhere close,IMO a M car is truely more special due to the balance of the complete package:inlove:

I believe this has been discussed a few times before.

In short, both are great cars, but also very different.

Who cares which is faster. Buy the one you want and enjoy it and stop complaining about which is better/faster whatever. After all YOU have to live with your choice no one else.

ja who cares. lol
different strokes for different folks.

if the 335 was a ///M...it would have a "M" badge on it right?
What confuses me though is like the M135i? I don't know anymore.
Is this from the ///M division? or just a tuned version and now they put a ///M badge on? Or ///M package? :flyfun:

Rofl...luckly my scrappy toyota isn't so much confusing.

This thread is not about which is faster. I'm highlighting that these are 2 very diff cars.im not interested who the traffic light Grand Prix champion is even though the irony is that 335 owners always compare theirs to the M. I'm highlighting that the M is a special development by BMW and the 335 isn't . This argument goes for conapring the 135 with the 1M too.Whether you can affiord one or not belongs to another thread.what you're happy driving is grand too ,but that has nothing to do with this topic. M division was introduced to supply vehicles for BMWs racing interests and that's where the Ms are developed

Now where are the TLGP freaks to come and hi jack this thread:fencelook:

Fixing boost leaks probably and making sure their "100% stock" car is still as fast (300kw+) as always before they go looking for anything with a ///Moron badge on the back to race and then to start a fight about the result later on. :fencelook:

The M badges you see on cars are merely M sport cars . So you'd buy a 318i se ( that's its trim finish) in Gold with cream leather and 16 inch wheels as std. or opt for the sport pack or the 318i m sport . These will be produced in specific colours, with a sport suspension 18/ 19 as std, m sport seats and slightly more aggressive front rear numbers and aprons- COSMETIC and nothing more. Hope that's helped clear that up

Hi Jerez
Your thread would have been well received if it had a more welcoming intro.
I can see where this thread is going...no more.

See my changes.
