LPG and diesel

Hi,
Has any one got any info or experimented with LPG injection on diesel motors? I have been reading up on it and it sounds quite exciting, just have not seen much on it in SA.

Ps:-
they boast up to a 40% power increase and a 20% fuel saving cost, with out tampering with any of the original equipment!!

I am thinking the same here.. But if N20 is not legal for street use would a propane/butane tank be allowed on a street car?

its a cool idea, with lots of merits.. reason you wont see it much in sa is because of the cost of lpg here.. not cost effective as a replacement fuel.. nor very cost effective as a booster either..

Forklifts are easily converted from diesel to lpg

the only forklifts that run on lpg are petrol one's, you cant convert diesel to run on gas alone, lpg needs a spark plug or some sort of ignition. Using Gas and diesel, when the diesel ignites under compression, that in turn combusts the lpg, and the lpg then helps to burn all the diesel. The best diesels in the world are only around 75% fuel efficient, the other 25% comes out the exhaust as black smoke.............

Pictures and a full writeup or it did not happen :)

I know Sishen Mine build a full LPG station and started converting their fleet of Hiluxes to LPG. Consumption was the same, but LPG were still a bit cheaper then. They have however scrapped the entire process since...

Doesn't the LPG make for much higher combustion temps and EGT? If so, it would hardly be worth it with a turbo car. I know the temperatures are higher when you convert a petrol car to LPG, which results in a shortened head life.

Hi Hellas,
I have ordered a full kit for my car from Australia, it should arrive the end of next week. I will post more when I have had it fitted & know more.:rollsmile::rollsmile:
The results with my homemade system were really unbelievable as far as extra power went. In the mean time you can have a read here:-

you will have to see what you need to do in order to legally carry a pressurized container in the car...

I would also be worried about how much heat it is going to make because i know petrol cars converted to LPG run quite a bit hotter... make sure you do some data logging :)
