Low power on pullaway

I researched the net for hours on this problem and although there are many owners with the same problem, no positive answer listed. Eventually I sent my 2004 318i with 155 000 Km on the clock, to the local BMW stealer for proper diagnosis. Two major faults were identified - MAF faulty as well as the DSC sensor. The diagnosis also listed intermittant faults from VANOS sensors and the VANOS motor. The MAF and DSC sensor had to be replaced, the car seems fine now and I stopped them from replacing the VANOS motor and sensors. R15 000 for the job is totally heartbraking. The other day I had to replace the plastic water tank on the side of the radiator and the left fron window regulator is on the verge of breaking. Magnificent cars but maybe never again keep it beyond Motor Plan

for a temp fix, try the cable tie trick for the window regulator (mine is still working after 3 months), or get a replacement regulator from MD motor spars in wynberg (JHB) for R800, and there are a few guys on the forum that you can contact for the VANOS fix. as long as you know what you in for and have good some good contacts you can keep your E46 for as long as you want! This is general wear and tear, not the cars fault. :thumb:
