Lost wheel lock nut

Hey guys,

So last night I had two flat wheels, and had to change them out with my spare set. I was away from home and it was dark, and I seem to have left my wheel's lock nut on the side of the road where I did the wheel change. :hammerhead: I went looking for it this morning but couldn't find it. I think it may be a standard one that BMW has. The set looks like this, but I still have the bolts. I'm only looking for the silver nut:

- Does anyone know where I can get one?
- Is it only BWW who sell them?
- Is it a standard size, or do they have multiple options?

It is quite urgent as my current spare set of wheels are running out of tire thread, so they need to be removed soon.

A price estimate would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.

U need the code to get a replacement from agents or the alternative would be to drill out the current ones and fit a new set.

Drive past your local dealership, they have all the numbers in a set, they try each one until they find the right one, you then order that specific key number from the dealer, BMWSA keep all the key numbers in stock.

I paid 85 bucks for a replacement wheel lock nut from the stealers... was pretty surprised as I expected more, you will need the car there and they need to check which one fits...

I compared my lock nut number to my friends e90 and we are one up and lower then each other  just incase this happens to us both

Take it to BMW dealership, parts department and ask them for the whole set and to check which one fits.

I went to Auto Alpina BMW Boksburg, they got most of these lock nuts in stock, got one for my car a few months back and it was around R80.

Those lock nuts are horrible things and I always look like a stalker :roflol: when I go to the tyre fitment centres and tail gating the person removing and fitting my wheels.

Where are you located?

If in Cape Town, I have a couple at home (don't ask) - in case you don't get a chance to get to a dealer!

I'm in JHB, but thanks for the offer anyway.

I don't mind paying +-R80 at BMW. I may even get two just in case it happens again.

I read a similar topic about half a year ago
apparantly there are 36 different variations, so yours is 1:36 that you will need to sift thru at the dealers

hmm 36 variations, and thief might be thinking I can purchase 36 * 80 = R2880 and I am set as a new set of rims from the agents will be like R40000 at least with tyres

I know a few people (my dad included) who carry two in their car for just incase, some of the older BMWs even have space in their tool sets to carry two keys.

Another way is to use child's play dough and press it into the bolt to give you a nice imprint of the shape. That's if you can't get the car to the dealer.
