Anybody experiencing this problem , have a 325i E90 170k kms . if i flaw my car it goes nowhere. rpm climbs very slowly , its as if the torque has disappeared. I took my car to Mech Five in CPT and they put it on the diagnostic machine and no faults . Except rear brakes.

Please help.

Sounds like your vanos pump is stuffed,it sits directly under your engine cover, just above where your plugs are.I had the same issue with my 325 two years back.Zeemax sorted it out.The pump cost back then R2800 brand new from the agents.

thanks for your reply , should that not bring up a fault on the diagnostic machine , the whole VANOS system was replaced about 3 years ago R23000 , luckily motorplan paid

Is the power loss consistent throughout the rev range, or most noticeable at certain revs? When last was the oil changed? Vanos is very reliant on proper oil pressure and things like a dirty oil filter, sludge, and gummed up Vanos solenoids will affect performance... Strange though that no errors come up.

Do you mean the motor between plugs 1-3 and 4-6? That is actually the valvetronic motor, and corresponds with what you paid.

hi , its from 3rpm onwards , if i accelerate slowly i'll get to the speed i want, but cant overtake at all . not enough power and picks up speed to slowly.

was thinking of trying that Wynns fuel cleaner that you put in the tank ?? is it any good ? of the high octane mix ?

Most probably a VANOS issue

Failing injectors ?

I seem to have a similar problem, lost significant power and when revving the car or driving above 3000 rpms, the rev counter jerks up and down, they said it was a breather on the tappet cover box! strangely enough the car at the same time struggles to start, which they said was the cranck shaft sensor, both has been replaced and the problem persists.
now they say it could be timing??

anyone had this problem before. and both problems occured at the same time strangely enough.

I could speak to you about this for a few hours with the amount of work that went into mine.

Philip Foglar and i have been chatting about this from a year back.
My 325i sat at bmw for 4 months.

When the problem happens did you try switching the car off for a few seconds and switch back on?

Was speaking to Burgy this morning as the car went back into bmw today. Seems to be Intake camshaft sensor does not match the position of the crankshaft. timing issue

And the vanos and a whole bunch of other parts have been changed this year already. No Change
