Looking for inspiration

Hi all,
Been a while since I last posted on this forum. This is one of those random posts inviting reasonable input on what to do with an old car.

Details:
‘97 1.3 Corolla ( carb engine)
Condition: all panels seem original but overall poor condition. I’m serious need of a respray, rubber perished etc) but it drives. In fact, it’s a fun old “man-wel”/ 3-pedal. My m3 was the last manual I owned, hence the comment.
Purchase price: R0 - was a family member’s stock collection car. Left to my wife when family moved to NZ

No point in selling it. Full restore is financially illogical so my guess is to focus on repairs to ensure reliability but a silly part of me wants to make it a toy (within reason) eg a bugger up old Corolla on biscuit wheels with a killer sound system or keep the shitty exterior look and totally upgrade suspension and engine (within reason considering the low cost of a second hand 86).

Question: what would you do with it? Be reasonable please...and if a reasonable solution is not possible then...say so.

Thanks in advance.

I love me some old toyota....
Still miss my Supercharged RSI....

Couple questions?
Weekend toy?
Run around to work toy?
Or spare car toy?

I saw these at a show last year
Super fresh suede interior, dropped to the floor, everything else std......

Drive around rubbing everywhere, its the only way

Send it for a full on valet with paint restoration,
Give it RSI mags,
Mild tint the windows....

It will look so much more usable...

Might even fetch you a good price if you sell it then...

i would do old spec RXi look so colour coded bumpers & bootspoiler and buff up the paint...17" RunxRSi TRD rep wheel...lowered...try & change seats to RSi or Rxi...sunroof if you can...then motor wise a Starlet 1.3 turbo would be drop in if im not mistaken and bolts to your box. ..you could do 4age or ze or BEAMS or 20v depending on budget and what you want.

It depends on the budget or what you are willing to spend. Heck if you want to really create the unexpected... Convert it to an EV?

Had one of these, i say use it for what it is, a cheap an inexpensive runaround that costs little to maintain.

It all really depends on whats your budget and how much time and effort your willing to pour into this project.
