Looking for e36 Diff 4.44

My buddy is looking for a 4.44 differential for his e36 318i auto. Tried local scrap yards in Gauteng and cannot find. Has anybody done a local conversion from auto to manual and still have the old auto box laying around somewhere? Alternatively, where can we purchase a new crown wheel and pinion? Anybody know of a tread where the procedural removal and replacement of the CW & P is explained?
