Yes, think it’s the same guy. His chilled and was very helpful. Have to do my own due diligence cause the last bmw I bought had all the paper work in order and was very neat. 2000km later everything was messing up from radiator to exhaust.

This is looks and feels brilliant, definitely worth my time to check it out properly otherwise this will be a costly mistake trying to avoid that

His giving me enough info, spent almost an hour talking, since I’m interested I want to do my own checks to make sure got bitten badly once *Lesson Learnt

If he's that good a guy and you are seriously considering dropping cash on it, bring the car to me, we will put it on the lift and go through it front to back with both of you and tell you whats right and whats wrong with it then you can make an informed decision... no charge obviously, to help you get into your first M car... then you can still go pay for the bmw or someone else's inspection if you want to...

Well it doesn’t get any better than that. Honest 3rd party inspection with seller and buyer there. Couldn’t really ask for more peace of mind. Nice one

I think the thing he did right, was driving as many of the breed as possible. You quickly get a feeling for what is a common ailment or noise and what model is free of them and what model has more of them.

Anyway if the OP is willing to trek to Pretoria he is more than welcome to drive mine. Engine is a peach, gearbox is sweet, diff is silent, suspension is virtually new yada yada fishpaste.

He's welcome to come drive mine too... but at the risk of never being able to find another that drives quite like it.

:hammerhead:

Seriously though, if you were closer, or if you happen to find a car for sale close to Bedfordview, I would happily come inspect the car with you. As most of the old guard on this forum can attest, I can say that I have been around the bend a few times when it comes to these cars.

Wow guys it really is awesome to see the support here. Brilliant from the forum members.

Buying an E46M is a difficult thing (with mileage being tampered with so easily etc.) but with the right guys assisting, the purchase becomes less daunting.

Hi guys

I know this topic is old but I’m in a similar situation with an e92 m3. It’s a 2012 with 67xxxkm.

The car is at a dealer in Alberton and I need someone who knows about these cars to check it out

I’m also a first time M buyer

May I suggest you start your own thread, as due to the title & subject matter of this thread, you will discover that mostly e46 m3 owners will be viewing these posts. You'll get more traffic that way and the likelihood of getting the response you desire will increase.

So upset with myself I let a white one pass me by (mainly gearbox type that put me off, SMG).... was listed for R145k, think buyer paid R135k
