Well budget is about 650k, rather generous but I need this vehicle to last north of 7 years so the money put aside has to match the timeframe.

With this budget I would seriously consider the Kuga (Titanium) 2.0 Turbocharged EcoBoost AWD Auto (177kW/340Nm) and still have a lot of change left.

Go drive one before you form an opinion.....

Steer clear of the 1.5 ecoboost - its a gas guzzler of note regardless of what the dumb salesman might try and rub off.

For the past 2 weeks I have had the opportunity to drive around in the upcoming Ford Everest.
Also a very nice vehicle, but not my cup of tea. The Fortuner will be dethroned with this one:tiptoe:

I will check this one out, i didn't know there was a 2L turbo, thought it stopped at the 1.6T I am interested in this Everest. Any idea of a launch date?

It is very difficult to distinguish from the outside between the 1.5 Trend Auto AWD and the 2.0 Titanium because they don't have badges specifying 1.5 or 2.0 and their trim is similar. I know what to look for, but for someone who doesn't know them, the only way to tell them apart is by the "Titanium" badge on the boot. This will be the 2.0. If it simply says "Ecoboost" on the badge , its a 1.5.

The launch of the new Everest is imminent.

7 Years is a long time for a SUV , Especially a JEEP. (I speak from experience)

My Shortlist would be :

New Fortuner
New Everest
Second Hand X5
Any particular reason why the Jeep is not a good idea? I need as much info as possible, last thing I need to do is buy a car that can be problematic.

I will try an explain. I have had Jeeps for a number of years. There have been some real lemons, and the diesels were the prime example. The main market for diesels was Europe and they ended up here and Australia with cold weather spec... so lots of overheating. The petrols are all gas gusslers.

The cherokee 2.7d CRD was a real lemon and you still see them by the side of the road.

However the new Grand Cherokee is a real winner. If we had not been renovating this year I would have one... and it is still on the cards for later.

PS. I just sold our Jeep of 14 years. XJ 2.5Td, well looked after but hammered. I still regret selling but I need something bigger.

I had a test drive of the Cherokee and I was left impressed. Smallish boot but full spec makes it sit at 700k before any type of discount. Features make it extremely good value seeing that I also test drove the Disco Sport and spec for spec, found it hanging around 800k. Transmission a problem in the Cherokee though, have heard problems

I had a look at this, seems to be a very well specced vehicle. I heard through a grapevine that launch will be before October. So hoping they correct! Test drove the Kuga, very very well handling but just not enough padding for back seats for me. Still a good option.
