Looking for a reasonably priced E46.

Hmmm. Think you'd have a better chance finding a decent condition e36 in that price range.

Maybe not, I bought my E46 for R 40 000. Driving it for 6 months now, no problems, light on fuel, the only thing I needed to replace was the fuel pump. Best car I ever had.

Since its for your daughter I think the perfect car is below , saw this add on Gumtree and think its a good buy with really low mileage and an efficient engine to save on fuel ?

Looks nice, but I showed it to her, and she said NO...... Her brother drives a 320D E46, and she now also wants a E46. Children........... The cause of all my grey hair. But I might be lucky, a friend want to sell his E46 330i 2003 model for R 60 000. Sounds like a good buy, and I know the car, it is in mint condition.

My e36 316i used more petrol than my e46 318i & the 316 had 35k km on the new engine replaced by BMW at their cost due to manufacturing fault on original engine & 318 has 162k kms on it

Dont shoot me for saying this on this forum, but seen as though its for your daughter.... maybe thinking about something of different brand eg: hatch back, ford fiesta etc.
First car, dings and jolls. Easier to maintain, safe and light on juice.

I suggested a Polo Vivo, or Ford Fiesta, but once again, the answer was no..... I even highlighted the pro's of less fuel, easier to drive/park. Made no difference to her feelings that she wants the E46. Now I must find one for a good price that I don't need to spend too much money on to get it sorted out. Don't you just hate it when you are trying to be to good a dad?? I can't say no, I still pay my son's insurance on his Beemer, and it is over R 1 500.00 monthly and my daughter uses this fact to good effect........

Same spot i was in 4 years ago. My 21st gift was between a e36 316i with 80 000km on the clock (Yes very low!!) for R50 000 and the e46 328i for R20 000 more. My argument was my beetle was also a 1.6. :biglol:

I was lucky to get the e46. 320d would be perfect for her. Finding one for R50 000 is gonna have high mileage and with a diesel thats taking a chance. 318i's gor for R45 000 these days.
