Looking for a mechanic tjommie

Hi Guys

Hope you are doing well

I've had my 2003 320d for 18 months now, and NOW I'm starting to run in to troubles.

First I had some bad idling, and not being technically minded, I followed the mechanics advice to keep on driving. At service he told me its only a computer reset, and my idling will improve - after going to BMW for diagnostic, they said 1 injector is bad. After the injector overall, and a lot of money, the idling is fine, but I have a huge ball of smoke coming out of the car under acceleration. I read somewhere that its the MAF. But I'm looking for someone who can help me troubleshoot without spending an arm and a leg....

I also need to replace the steering angle sensor (and I guess remap or calibrate it) and also the glow-plug relay.

Do any of you have a contact or a tjommie for me to help me sort out this car please.

Not sure of places in Paarl.

CPT has Garage 808 that will definately sort it out. Zeemax also an alternative.

Garage 808 has got every good review and their pricing is great.
A Tjommie might not have the necesary equipment to work on a car like this. :thumbs:

Sorry for the 20 questions, but trying to get behind the problem.

Why the steering angle sensor?
Has your turbo been changed?
Mileage?

Leave the glowplug light. If you can drive without noticing it, you save yourself some already. It does nothing and won't cause anything.

THanks for you reply - I appreciate any help I could get

Apparantly the turbo was replaced on 124000km - the clock now stands on 188900

I've got the DSC light and Handbrake light in amber - and the diagnostic said Steering angle sensor. So I'm just going on what they are saying. The mechanic quote me R5000. Can get a replacement one for R1000 but can't fit it myself.

Not too worried about the glowplug situation, as it's not struggeling to start in the morning.

Was the steering light always burning since the turbo replacement? Or shortly afterwards?
The removal of the steering column could trigger this fault if they put it back offset with the splines. But this you would notice on the steering wheel itself which will be slightly off center.

Fitting the sensor is a bum job...true.

The MAF replacement is easy. You just need a torx set for the little screws.
