Looking at buying an E90 320i...

I will avoid buying a start model - it has aircon, BMW Business Radio( not mp3 compati..),

no cruise control.

Door handle not color coded

try getting an exclusive or sport model - if you search around you can get a 2005 model with decent km.

dont be pressurised to buy something that you cant afford due to peer pressure.

sheesh! this 320i talk will always be the joke of the forum lol

dude, 320i>golf 1.6, off the line and top end and if someone couldnt beat this car with a 320i, go learn how to drive!
the 320i delivers like a BMW should deliver, dont listen to the 6 cylinder and diesel drivers, they obviously got faster cars, but the main thing here, you buying your own car and and you going to drive it, test drive the car for a while for town and highway driving and see if you like it. my A3 was lighter and felt faster, but teh bimmer is just more fun with RWD. i give the guys a go for their money at a robo with my 320i, no matter what anybody says, end of the day the car is brilliant, my first BMW and definitely not my last...this car has showed me what BMw is like. there is nowhere you can pick up any other car with half the features and slick m/plan and looks for a better price, bang for buck it is good.

consumption depends on your right foot, you can make or break it and if you think the 320i is an upgrade from the e36 316i, you are right cus it is!!! Good luck bud!

I have nothing to say other than this: 320i Rant

But if your coming from a e36 316i, then  ... if possible, dont go for the 'START'... The 'Full House' they are referring to is the Poker Hand by which they won the car with from the previous owner... :mmm:

As for towing a caravan... :nono: unless it weighs under 350kg and is self propelled. And PLEASE stay away from the Auto, its K@K... my 2c.

Seems the forum need to be renamed, why are there so many cocks on the forum. not everyone can afford anything bigger and faster than a 320i and hell Im sure there are people who dont want anything bigger and faster. Each to his own, remember there is always a Beemer bigger than yours, unless you own a brand new M5/M6.

The guy asked politely for advice on what HE wants to buy. Im not trying to argue or fight with anyone, but this is starting to feel like the honda boys Forum.

one would be a cock not to mention that the 320i is a bit underpowered...
i think the comments here have been very fair to the car...

if you taking it personally then you are just being over sensitive...

Not taking it personal bru, I am basing my statement on the fact that we all here for the same reason, cause we are BMW fanatics. The constant "320 is k@k" comments is not needed, its a BMW afterall not a Tatta. Some people prefer a 320i for whatever reason it may be. I nearly bougt one, its just that I got a better deal on a 323i, but I dont see why any thread relating to a 320 must be hijacked. Jusy my opinion.

he is overreacting. Its try that 320i Auto is slow. I have driven one recently. My 320i Manual is far better than the auto.

Eish! eish, eish, eish!

This guy must be busy reading the 16 page thread BMW M put in here ha ha! nothng wrong with a 320i,if you like it, go for it. like Sabre said, each to his own, to me the car doesnt feel so under-powered, it is because it is a huge ass body on that engine and its being driven from the rear but it aint as bad as you would use 2nd gear to get up a hill sometimes. look, my 320 has a upgraded exhaust system and i dont know what other changes but it goes well and i am happy with it, i would be happier with more power, who wouldnt be but for it is worth, the car is worth the price cause of the spec. dont take the guy's comments to heart or too personally, if i did, i would have thrown alot of insults towards them but remember, not everyone knows about cars and some people base opinions on other opinions from some person who doesnt even own the car, hence i say test the car yourself and if you like it, buy it! Fark the rest, your money, your car, your enjoyment...klaar! i am sure the gys would agree with me on this.

Sabre, good on you for backing the beemer 320's up

I expected comments about it's performance but no more ranting/insulting! :argue:

I'm also considering the Audi A4 2.0 and at least on paper the 320i has superior performance. I'm more concerned about the lack of space for a spare tyre as I'm not intending to buy run flats. Not too keen on the E90's looks either but that won't stop me from buying one.

To be honest I would rather pay a bit more for an E46 330i but we're not spoiled for choice in my valley. (I deliberately did not mention the E46 330i to avoid some of the above comments).

i got a mobilo kit in mine and 2 cans of tyre weld, i aint worried too much about tyres on the car, the sportpack is a bit stiff but it handles like a beaut. the car can do good consumption, my best was 7.1 l/100km, drivng miss daisy.

space is wicked, my dad drives a B7 A4 and i came from an A3 2 door, and the space is survivable depending on your size, some bigger fellow dont like the sport seats. you can change over to normal tyres and keep the tyre weld and mobilo if you want, some guys have some other good ways to keep normal tyres also

@ aZZ_kIkN_vELO, you welcome.

On a note regarding the sparewheel question; A friend of mine has a 320dM, he drives some Karoo roads every now and again, so he got a old space saver wheel (dont know from where) and fitted a tire on it, well there is no sparewheel well, so its gona take up some of your boot space.

Thanks guys!

yep, thats why i didnt get a space saver spare cus it actually is a space taker and when i saw the actual space-saver in a guys e90 boot, alot of space was taken for sure.

Now you are headed down the right path bud. To be honest, I have come from a history of driving 4 cylinder Bimmers so I know how fvcking slow they are (owned two myself). Go for a 6 cylinder and you wont regret it. e46 320/325/330 are great value for your money, plus they come with the features that you find on an e90, better looks (subjective), space for a spare, slightly less bulky, and great reliability. Maintenance is not bad either, and you wont really feel the fuel hit, esp with a 330 due to its torque, thus not needing much to get it going.

edit: E46 330s should be within your price range...just do a bit of searching, plus, the 6 cylinder engines are virtually bullet proof.

Good luck bud!

I'm quite curious to know what differences your 320i has from the standard M-sport ones (pre-facelift) and how much of a difference it makes and what it would cost...

Coming from a Citroen C2 1.4 to an E90 320i M-Sport, the 320i is a massive upgrade for me and I always have a lot of fun driving it :)
