Hi all.

I battled my ass off last time I had to do and oil service on my car (03 318i N42 engine). The damn oil filter cap is impossible to get off without this tool. The stealers didnt wanna sell me this tool coz it represents a loss in business to them. If you have a oil filter cap with a smooth top and 16 sides (86.5 mm diameter). You HAVE to get one of these. Considering the price of a stealer oil service, this is a bargain. I've used it, and it works brilliantly.

Or you can go Dutchman.

Take a old screwdriver and knock it through the filter and turn it off :)

Bit missy though

Cant do it on the newer BMW's as the filter is housed in a oil filter housing..

On older cars with a filter that screws on you can do it..

Sorry for hijacking, when you do a oil service what is the other filter (not oil filter) that you have to be sure to replace as well. I think its for the turbo

For the M47 and M47N/TU 320d you only have air, oil and diesel filters for the engine and a cabin filter for the aircon.
