Locked Keys in boot e46

Hi there guys,

Kind of a new member on the forum, just been reading other posts till now.

I left my keys in the boot and as I closed it I remembered I left them in there.

Doors were and are still locked when I closed the boot, so the boot is now locked and unable to open with the release buttons (outside and inside)
No spare keys as this is the spare key locked in the boot.
Central locking doesn't work which is why I'm using my key.

Anyone know of a good locksmith in the Durban area? Or if I can use another e46 key just to open my boot?

Hi am so sorry to hear this, This happen to me on my E90, luck for me the window was half open, my brother went through and removed the seats and reached through for the keys, locksmith wanted something ridiculous cant remember but I think R2500, sorry man, hope you come right,

Any locksmit should be able to sort you out. As for the central locking not working I would look at your GM5 module, if you are handy with a soldering iron it will cost 400 to fix.

call BMW ON-CALL on 0800 600 777. They might be able to assist you for a lot less, they will assist non Motorplan clients for a fee. It's worth a try.

If you have insurance, you can call them too. This service is usually for free. They will come out, and open the car for you.

Thanks man, flip R2500 just to open the boot. Lucky you guys had the window down. Called a Locksmith company my dad used before and is charging R450.

Yeah I read up on the keys and what goes wrong with the rechargeable batteries. My dad knows someone who can do it for me, not so handy myself.

Car is finally open in under 20mins :woot:

If you gone through your insurance, it would have cost R0.00, for a locksmith, to come open your car for free..
You pay for this service included in your premium, why not want to use it? :thinking:

I wasn't too sure on the specifics on what emergency services was covered by insurance. This was the first time that we needed a locksmith to open our car, and we needed to get into the car asap. School Fees
