I dunno....just get the impression this was designed with the American market in mind.....

I like the red callipers, but I am finding it hard to keep up with the times. A 540i badge used to mean 4.0 litre V8. Perfectly logical. Then it meant 4.4. litre V8. Not quite so logical anymore, but more capacity meant more power and that is always a good thing.

Now you get a twin turbo 3.0 litre six hidden under a huge piece of plastic. The 21st century confuses me.

It's not all that confusing, there is some logic to it. The "40" in 540i simply implies that the engine delivers performance equivalent to 4.0 naturally aspirated engine. Obviously its not an exact science, as the marketing department will always prefer nice round numbers, but the principle is straight forward.

I'm not saying I like it... the purist in me still thinks its a crime ;)

On a 530 yes stick a 3.0T...

On a "40"...please give us V8 (finish & klaar)

Dunno. The tail piece housing not so hot. Sits high too.
