"limp Mode"

my car is in limp mode....apparently ...wont go over 4 half thousand revs...why do u think this is ?...what can i do ....and if i must go do diagmnostics where is the cheapest but best place in east rand ? ne one know?

Can you turn the car off and restart it, does the limp mode go away? Stupid question - but my car did this sometimes. It would go into limp mode. Turned out I had a faulty coil. Replaced them all as well as spark plugs and problem solved. No more limp mode. RBTS Racing did it for me near Pamona.

323i 1996 model e 36...was driving yesterday in traffic and bang ...no power...theni stopped waited for bout an hour...started it revved over 4 anf a half...as soon as i drove ...bam no pwer back to under 4 and half...

well started whilst i drove it ....then i stopped had a beer...went back and tried to rev it and it wouldnt go over 4 anf a half...went back had another beer and then when i started it rev nornally....i reversed...and as soon as i wnet into 2nd bam ...rev cut out at 4 and a half again
