Howzit Guys,

I need help please. i had a really kak weekend with my car :thumbdo:

On Saturday afternoon while driving on the freeway these lights just came on.

CC-ID 24 - DBC Dynamic Brake Control Brake Assist Failed
CC-ID 35 - DSC Failed
CC-ID 50 - Tyre Monitoring Failure

I have researched the codes and i can't understand how so many things fail at once or could it be one thing that is related to all those components?

I have driven the car home with those lights on so not sure if i could have damaged anything more than it already is.

Also the angel eye rings on the left stopped working - CC-ID 121
How many bulbs are there? is it possible for both to blow out at the same time?

Please help guys :ty:

My old E90 use to do this... turned out to be the battery, after replacing that it stopped...

Maybe you have the same problem.. check batt, alternator and terminals... hope you come right...

On the e46 chassis this was a common fault. A clean of wheel speed sensors usually solved the problem. Might be the same for E90. On my e46 these lights also came on when the alternator failed. I would first clean the wheel sensors

check and clean your wheel speed sensors... then check your battery and alternator

OP...
is your indicator also not self cancelling? this sounds like the trifecta lights which occur when a wheel speed sensor is dirty or dead... also equally plausible is the vehicle alignment and steering angle sensor are not happy with the readings they giving each other/is not in factory specs causing a dsc heart attack...
lastly is the steering angle sensor is dead.

Thanks guys - i will have my battery and alternator tested this afternoon.

I will try to DIY the wheel speed sensor this weekend. Well as soon as i can. Will not use the car till i can get these errors sorted out.

Hopefully it is not something major

Thank buddy,

I sent my car in for alignment this morning, also read that it might be that. Will collect my car in about an hour.

Haven't noticed any issues with the indicator since this happened.

I also did notice that the steering was not perfectly straight - probably 1 or 2ml off - so i really had too look hard to notice its off

The steering wheel cant be out by 5° otherwise the light as you indicated in your photo's will come on. All 3 of them as they are associated with the stability control. In other words the car thinks you doing a 100km/h in a bend for 20min ......if this makes sense. You cant do that for that long and the computer throws these codes to disable them so you can check what is wrong. Diagnostics will tell you where to look as these 3 codes are pointing to a few things, not all at the same time but one of them:

1. Steering angle sensor in the steering wheel is dirty or faulty, google 2c steering angle sensor to fix that one if it comes up as the problem. But this is also hard to figure out if this is the problem without diagnostics.
2. Wheel speed sensor, one of the sensors on the 4 wheels is dirty or faulty and is disabling the system as it is not able to monitor it anymore. Cleaning can maybe fix this.
3. ABS or DSC unit packed up, this is highly unlikely but can happen. In this case a new unit will need to be bought.
4. Alignment, as explained the computer cant see how you can go that fast that long at that angle (your steering wheel is when going straight) and will disable the system. An alignment normally fixes this but a steering angle sensor recalibration might be required. You can try this method: Switch car on, start (dont drive), turn wheel left full lock, right full lock, left full lock and drive 200m forward. The lights should be gone by then. If they return the steering angle sensor, point 1, might be where you need to look.

I do think you sitting with option 1 or 4 as you say the steering wheel is at an angle when going straight now.

Hope this helps in this and gives you some sort of guidance.

BTW the angle eyes have there own bulb, it requires you to remove the wheel, wheel arch and a cover to get to it. But there is a bulb for it. BMW charges like R700 a piece, that was 1.5 years ago, maybe more now.

If your vehicle went in for wheel alignment then most probably you will have to recalibrate the steering angle into the dsc. Get a diagnostic test done on the vehicle first.

Thanks for all the help guys - finally got the car sorted yesterday.

It went for alignment 3 times, new disks and pads, new battery and nothing helped.

Finally a guy at the tyreshop went under the car for less than a minute,.. boom perfectly straight steering wheel.. drove the car for 20 meters and all the lights on the dash were off.
