Hi Ladies and Gents

Need some help and expert advice here , I drove about 5 kms today and got home , and upon starting again just to park inside the garage ( about an hour after the last switch off), the engine light appeared ( Full engine power is no longer available )

I didnt feel no loss of power , or anything funny before I switched the engine off.... but then an hour later BAAMMMMMM light is on !!

Please can somebody point me in the right direction. What are this point to and possible fixes and what will it cost me.:thumbdo:

+1 It could literally be anything.

So diagnostics is your only answer, unless you want to take out about 15k and replace every single sensor until you find the faulty one, thats not a good way to go.

Most likely, you are going to find that its either a cam sensor (there is 2), wont be crank sensor as car would not run, or it could be 02's

Even something as silly as a throttle position sensor could cause the issue, but its more then likely the computer either does not know cam angles or something to that extent.

If it is fine tomorrow morning, but you have the issue during the day, its heat related,

Diagnostics bud, only option.

Thank you guys. I also started it the 2nd time( 30mins after the 1st) after I noticed the error. Same thing in yellow…. Will check in the morning.

Yes , you correct , could be anything , but that meaning of the error is so damm frightening!!

I will take it for a diagnostics test weekend and ask them to print the fault report for me and advise back .

This is electronics for you, even comouters act the same. They will run fine now but on next use it will be totally fucked.

Also PM ChrisBrand. He comes to your house and does diagnostics, for a very very very reasonable price.

No

The error is good news, well bad news but good news.

It is electronic, and while it is expensive to diagnose and repair...

Its better then a main bearing failure, Could have a hole in the block, ever seen what happens when an autobox has a valve body failure and try engage two gears at the same time.

Dont stress bud, I recon your in for a sensor or two or a damaged wire.

Only mechanical issue you could have is maybe a VVT motor going bad, and virtually impossible, is that a knock sensor could be doing its job, but its highly unlikely.

Guys went and got the diagnostics and following came up.

2A70 DME
2A67 DME
2A6B DME

Drove there perfectly for 8 kms .They insisted it's the VVT , and also noticed like griding noise when take . They say yes because the VVT isn't in line with the changing of gears . Something like that.

Tried clearing the light , to see if it will come back on , but the car refused to clear it as it is a present issue

After the test , Im driving back home and Baaammm. Massive loss of power (driving 40 km/ph and griding on the take off.

And somebody with a proper diagnostics tool...

Stop past my place in the South

Full error headings

2A70 DME : Valvetronic, plausibility: sporadic current fluctuations

2A67 DME : Valvetronic, internal fault

2A6B DME : Valvetronic , power limitation , servomotor

Valve tonic motor most likely

Your prob looking at about 4k

Yes , They also advised to change the Tippit cover gasket(something like that) when changing the VVT .

Total R6500

What you think boss ?

Price the parts at bmw themselves. The gasket they are referring to is more then likely rock hard and crumbles or breaks when removing. So yea get the gasket

Vvt change can be done in about 2 maybe 3 hours

Try disconnecting your battery, take the one pole off completely, leave it off for about 5 minutes and see if that works.

Worked for me, i was able to go faster than 9km/h and get it to a diagnostics centre.

Good luck bud
