I just love the 540i motors from the E34, Epic engines those, hopefully 1 day i will have the funds to fit a 540i motor to my 320i chassis...!!!!

Some lovely scenic shots there as well!!

Hopefully driving to PE and back this weekend, to visit some friends.
Will take the camera with, for some road trip stories :=):
I need to invest in a Go-Pro Camera soon.

Ray - I also want a "deeper" sounding exhaust note. Current system is a mix of power flow, bosal and original parts, nice rumble but is missing something.

I had a set of branches fitted with a 53mm pipes to my 325I - what a lovely sound at 6500rpm, but the side effect was I could never come home late without waking up the neighbours for two blocks around me, plus set off car alarms in an underground parking. :biglol:
I was mad, but it was soooooo much fun, “had” to buy a bigger sound system to drown out the noise. May explain why I’m losing my hearing :roflol:

Ash the guy in Bowls road is good -he does a lot of systems for guys with V8's in fords and other conversions . Maybe chat to him and also to Larry at powerflow . Maybe you should take mine for a spin and see what it sounds like and work from there :thumbs:

Would just doing the exhaust yield any measurable performance gain or purely just acoustic satisfaction? I'm also keen on unleashing a bit more sound on my 540 as it's just soo addictive. I believe that BMW made pretty good xorsts though. Keeping stock mani's I presume. It's been mentioned to put straight pipes from the back box. This any good?

Andy , I think this is where we speculate .
My 540i individual has 57 mm pipes from after the manifolds , two small boxes basically under the front doors , a larger box under the back seat and a box at the back .
I can't get the sound on my digital camera , it is too deep .
I know the " more sound is more power " theory is liked by many .

By what you say I think I'll like your setup. I love the car, it was just a bit too quiet to my liking as I experienced driving her back up here. I don't want brakpan loud as the E30 is already that, and it would then suck as a daily. If there's performance to be had then I'll take the sound with it  Else what's the point right?

The general wisdom seems to be that it's a very hit-and-miss thing with these cars - you can go loud but end up loosing a wodge of power. Don't know what the exact specs on my car's system are, but it sounds pretty good and with no drone or unpleasant resonance at cruising velocities, and plenty of Hide-your-children noise when you go for it.

That's exactly what I'm after. Thus the idea of just putting straight pipes from the back box. No risk of tampering with an existing proper bmw exhaust (no loss of power) and just liven up the upper rev range acoustically when one feels the need

Only one place in East London with parking like this......Security will be there quicker than you can think....then they block you at the gate !!:thumbdo::thumbdo:

Hahaha guards are the same here don't worry. That's if they not sleeping somewhere in the shade :roflol: They also close the gates but I smooth talk my way around it. Doesn't happen often enough to become a problem

Hi all
Went on a training course today, and had to park my car in the street.
So at 8:00am Park the car opposite the training venue, unclip the radio, and put in code on OBC and lock the car. - I hate street parking

At 4:00pm walk out, unlock car, clip in the radio, and switch ignition on,
A ping sound from the dashboard,
OBC is dead, no display. :argh:
Oh –KAK …………”you bl00dy female dog etc...” :bangdesk:
Panic time. , punch in “code” no go
Switch off
Switch again, and very slowly and calmly as if defusing a bomb, counting the number of times I’m pressing the 1000, then 100, the 10’s and the one buttons, starting sweat now !!!!!!

The Longest 2 minutes, punched in what I hope is the right numbers, press the SR button, thank goodness the code light goes off, and we start...
Well that is the last time I use freaking 9999 as a code. :biglol:

Driving home I’m relived it’s only the back light globe that has gone after 18years and 332000km’s off service.

Cheers all

If that didn't work, wouldn't disconnecting the battery for like +- 10min will reset OBC thus you'll be able to start again? :)
