Rather than taking off the number plates and running the risk of getting caught, rather try the old varnish trick. Put some water based gloss varnish on your number plates. The coating will act like a mirror finish so if you go through a speed trap and the flash goes off then the number plate comes out over exposed and unreadable. Works great. I have never received a fine ever since I did that.

As far as I know it's not illegal. have been pulled over without any problems. Cois can confirm if it's illegal or not tough

Hope this helps

James Bond revolving number plates ?

on a serious side, personally the last traffic violation I recieved was in 1994, for failing to STOP fully at a stop street.

My "ex" driving my other car got one or two speeding fines, always in the same area (she just woudn't learn) Linksfield off ramp going south. .. about 2005/2006

My first ever vehicle accident...50 years on this planet...last week when a female in a 4x4 rear ended me....only slight damage.

so as our local "Spietkop" Coisman says....drive in such a way as to be legal.

The varnish thing won't work, as the new cameras all use at least 4 different light spectrums to trap. So with the older flash cameras...maybe...

Also remember that the other cameras uses video, and then a photo-print of the frame gets saved showing your number plate, so again...the varnish won't work.

Just remember that ANY way of tampering with your numberplate, or close to the numberplate, like putting up reflective tape around it, is conciddered as an attempt to obstruct the ends of justice and can get you arrested.

Have plates made with 2 digits swopped around. I dont think the cops are literate enough to realise that they have been swopped around.

i've seen a number of attempts to fool the etolls:

1. mud on one digit on the number plates
2. white insulation tape on the 2 centre digits on the new gp plates. looks like a custom plate.
3. and then of course no number plates
