LED upgrade Yes or NO......

I will have to say stock clears hey. It just looks the part. But then again, I have 17 inch rims on my e34 that the majority of people hate. At the end of the day I am the one who owns and drives the car, so if it makes me happy, then so be it. Like you said, you won't know until you try it.

Those LED's look cheap and nasty.

In what respect?

They look like utter shit. I think in this case its an LED 'downgrade'. The e36 is old, it does not suit the style of the car. Its like putting hotpants and grills on your granny.

But then any other mod like any Carbon Badges or black grills would also apply on an E36-they're modern updates to the car......

All in all I agree and think the stock look is better.......however they do look shite when older-@ Rodga they are crystals(or were when new)

Please put your stock lights back on!!!! :nono:

In your case, the OEM lights did look a bot old... but then again, your whole car is a bit old.. so it fit.

So to all you guys with 'Carbon Fibre' this and LED that: wasn't the one BMW made good enough?

If you put all the comments here together you get: "The tail lights look like they come from Autostyle" :mmm::mmm:

I also say stick with the original, I love LED's to bits but those just don't work unfortunately, never thought I'd say that though.

why bother.

To be different from all the other cars that look all the same all aspiring to be M3 when they can't be.Its either go for the M3 look or go for something different-Unfortunately when you go for something different you are going to recieve critism BUT you are not going to know that till you try it....Fortunately some things work out BUT many things don't.I was trying for a subtle yet updated look-these are one of the better LED rears you can get for the E36-there are some true horrors out there and on a practical note-these are much brighter and clearer than standard and you don't have to worry about a bulb been out.

I feel that constructive critism is welcome. You can learn from that, however saying things like its utter shite is unhelpful and well says a lot about the person saying it....

True the E36 is an old car-however if you think that the last model was produced 10 years ago then it's not really "that" old.....

Also it's different strokes for different folks....I see on this forum stock is the way to go-yet on another forum people are saying LED's are the way to go-I feel that the first person to answer generally sets the tone for the rest-and the rest all follow.......I have come away with some positive feedback from this forum ie possibly smoked would look better....

I do like stock and I also like to be different....so will give these a go for a while and see how it pans out-at the minute I am undecided...fortunately I have the originals and if after a time I feel that these lights where the wrong way to go I put the stock ones back in....

@ threetwoeight-have another look they do have reflectors.....They are also light up far brighter than stock one do and use a lot less power too

@ Stk, post some pics after you smoke the LED's. I saw a pic of some smoked LED's on e-bay some time back and they looked nice but the pics didm't show what they looked like on the car.

smoke them im sure they will look 1000x better just dont do it too dark...

This is what I though, seeing as you already have them, but I would just make it really dark, like almost completely black.

What you could also try, is open up the lights and put some of the stuff that is used to make reflectors from (translucent retro-reflectors) between the leds and the cover that should diffuse the light from the leds a bit and and also hide them, but you will still have the really bright and cool led effect :)

i would tint them so you could only 'just' see the inside when you are close to it that way it should not be too dark than people will be able to see your brake lights...

I am thinking moranor's idea of a lighter smoke tint might be a bit better, as you can always take it darker if you feel you need to, but just keep us updated would like to see how it turns out :)

I dont mind the LEDs at all. but the silver reflectors are just too bright.

I wouldnt smoke the light, rather spray the silver reflectors black. Only in the clear section though, the red looks perfectly fine.

If that isnt to your liking... Smoke 'em.
