Leaking E36

Hi There,

I have a BMW E36 320iA 1995 Model,

The car is in pretty good condition, has just had a major service on the 31st of October... but since about a week ago, there's liquid leaking from under the car, it is not thick liquid, it's watery, possibly either water or fuel, I have absolutely no knowledge about cars, since this is my first car... It only leaks allot when I start the car and put it in drive or reverse...

The strangest thing though, is it only happens when the car stands for about say 6 hours, when I start it and reverse, you can clearly see a SOLID line ''not drops'' of liquid following the car as it reverses out of the driveway, :fencelook:

But, say if I then go to the shops, or go for lunch and take about two hours, when I start the car again, there's not much leaking anymore? it's strange... I have had the water checked, the radiator, and the oil at the garage and it seems fine, which gets me thinking, it's something to do with the fuel or the air-con perhaps?.

Also a new computer light came on and it has one yellow block, then one red block and below it says, Inspection....

What is the cause of this?. :bangdesk:

How much will it cost me to fix this and can anyone recommend a few workshops in fourways area, where they will be able to fix this within say the next 24 hours, I cant be without a car over the holidays... :( :argh:

Hi KyleAraujo and welcome to the forum. Please feel free to introduce yourself in the New Members area.

If I were you, the first thing to do is to check what the liquid is. So when you see it leak again, touch on it with your hand and smell it to see if its fuel or water.

I might be wrong about the light but it sounds like when the vehicle was serviced recently, the mechanic forgot to re-set the "service due" light which could be why its suggesting an inspection is due.

And sorry, I am in Cpt so dont know the Jozi workshops but someone here will make some suggestions.

Goodluck!
