So an update on this thread, Babayaga is now one year under my ownership and 9000km later. Elected to extend the motor plan for an additional 12 months for peace of mind. Mileage is now on around 88000 km and although I did consider the service and related cheaper packages I still elected for the full motor plan renewal. My daily is a G5 TDI 1.9 manual and driving the X occasionally on weekends make me really appreciate this majestic ride and comfort. The air suspension extra on this also makes the ride so much softer more so with it riding on 22 inch wheels. WhatsApp Image 2024-10-09 at 14.08.30.jpeg

Drive it more.. Don't save it for the next owner.
That's the thing bud , at this stage in my life I am not sure if i want to sell it or keep it till the wheels come off. This spec, extras and look is so rare and to replace with a newer year model in time will never be at the price I paid.

Thread Update: Its been a while since an update so here goes:

Booked Babayaga in for due service in November and also took time to finally give BMW a list of items that was bugging me but never had time to take it in. The sunroof on tilt had this irritable wind noise so asked for this to be check and resolved. BMW SANDTON said it was checked and resolved noise came back after 2 weeks, will take it back next month. 2nd item was a spongy noise from the front suspension over bumps which was checked and resolved but shockingly at a cost of R75K. Turns out it was the driver side pneumatic spring strut and they had to replace upper and lower control arm as well as the air suspension driver side shock. Apparently, they had to send multiple videos to BMW MPLAN for approval. Needless to say there was no damage from harsh driving or potholes therefore BMW approved, and the noise is gone.

With Christmas looming and a random trip to the coast planned the itch started to consider a wheel upgrade until I checked prices for 22-inch upgrades. With crazy pricing I then elected to rather get hub centric spacers and then decide on the next steps. Ended up by Uncle Zac at Euro wheels and after trying a few spacers, driving around the block, lowering and raising the suspension I settled on 18mm at rear and 12 mm at front with extended bolts. Love the rear stance now and also how it fills ups the arches. Below is some pics at normal ride height and then the preferred ride height which is how it remains. U can see the difference in stance from viewing al the pics in the early posts to the ones below. Await your commentary gents :) X5 2.jpgX5 4.jpgX5 NEW.JPGx5 new 1.jpg
This is the setting it stays on and with the spacers at this height I think it really gives Babayaga presence

Sorry dude,

this is annoying when you send the car in and expect it to be resolved and it didn't. To be honest, I have had great service at JSN still off recent and they never fail to amaze. The car is well kept and issues resolved when booked in with transparency. If you can, maybe give them a try.

Oh man, it looks so menacing now! The spacers make a HUGE difference in the stance of the car... would not want to see this in my rearview mirror...it just shouts MOVE!! ha ha
