Last service under motor plan

Hi guys,

My BMW is due for service in October, it is still under the motor plan which will expire in Jan 2017, so this is basically the last free service. I was suggested by some of my friends that I should look for any problems on the car as much as possible, so that the dealer can fix/replace any potential problems for free. I am considering to take the car to a reputable mechanic or AA test to do a full inspection, but that costs over R2000, do you think this is necessary?

Please share your experiences, much appreciated.:praise:

Rather do the service in October. Spend the 2k, complain from nov and replace by Dec. All parts replaced would carry a 2 year warranty thereafter. It doesn't mean that the last service is the last time your car goes in for repairs. You can go in weekly with a new fault each week.

Haha, hope it works that way, and have the time to visit the dealer weekly, logically it sounds like a life time warranty.:clapper:

So, if I am understanding this correctly, if I had an issue with my turbo, and got it replaced just before my MP expired, any turbo related issues after that would be covered for 2 years?

Just the turbo, bot all related issues.

BMW has become stricter with regard to changing of parts under m/plan though.

I just realized that the Motor plan also has to be transferred to the new owner's name if the car is transferred, and the cost is R1800.

The buyer can negotiate with the dealer, I did this with both my Beemers, told them I will take it, if they pay for it, and if it does not appear on the OTP.
