Good Morning Fanatics!
In the last few weeks we have been really busy; busy bringing the joy back to car owners!
One such owner, a lovely lady was surprised by her husband when he booked her Land Rover Discovery 3 in for a Showroom Enhancement Detail.
I arrived early keen to get started on the beast expecting the worst - These cars are huge!
The Landy was in great condition with general dirt and grime coating the paint, mag wheels and arches. The interior however was something else and I decided to get cracking on.
The mag wheels were degreased using a combo I discovered of APC & Maxi Suds 2. Foamy Foamy! The body was then foamed with Maxi Suds, allowed to dwell a bit whilst I gave the panel gaps and badges a quick clean using a variety of brushes.
The tank was then dried down using microfibre clothes.
One of the main reasons for this Showroom Enhancement was not only to return the Showroom Shine to the car, but also to try removing some rather serious paint damage.
The owner’s son had offered to wash the car and instead of washing it in the usual fashion he used a scouring pad to remove dirt on the bonnet, front bumper and headlights.
I began correcting using an orange cyclo pad and Megs #85 in combo with Pro Cut 2. A very heavy combo!
Unfortunately, I noticed the bonnet had been resprayed and without the assistance of a Paint Thickness Guide I didn’t dare do more than three passes. However as you can see above the marring was drastically reduced and a huge amount of gloss was restored to the paintwork.
A later inspection revealed that in sunlight the marring was completely invisible unless in the shade. This made the owner very happy as it meant he didn’t need to respray the bonnet and bumpers.
I was also surprised and happy to see that although huge in size, the Land Rover features very little actual paint with most of the car being glass. Fantastic!
The car was then pulled outside, suspension raised to its highest and the car was rewashed and dried.
The paintwork was then coated with two layers of Chemical Guys Ultimate Top Coat Sealant leaving a wet, glossy shine. Trim and tyres were dressed and the engine bay was given a clean.
Moving on to the interior, a couple of befores:
The interior was quite literally degreased, leather moisturized with Smart Leather and glass cleaned with Autoglym Fast Glass.
With the day drawing to a close and the final details taken care of it was time for some after pictures!
I was extremely happy with the finish achieved and the owner was blown away by the work done, his wife even more so after seeing her "baby" all clean and shiney.
All comments are welcome, what do you guys think?
