Lambda sensor...Help!

Ok so after the branches were installed, did the unichip yesterday but no of course that wont be the end of the expense coz this car wishes to bleed me dry!!! :banghead:

So after the branches were installed, it triggered the engine light so 1st thought on everyone's mind was due to CAT being removed and with unichip this can be clamped so it doesn't ever trigger. The guy at Fastcar Performance didn't want to clamp it because he insisted it was an intricate part of the car's system etc etc, anyway he put the minicat in, didnt charge much so i didn't mind as i thought finally the light will go off and it did for a while...but after being on the dyno for a bit...

The fcking engine light is still on!!!!!! Why?!?
When we read the codes, it says 'O2 sensor number 2: Cat converter heating'
So we put the car on the hoist and see that Powerflow (They did the viper branches) put that specific sensor back in the original place (before the main cat converter, now replaced with a SS box) and coz of the new branches it caused the sensor cable to touch the gearbox and burnt throught the insulation and stuff! Fckers! Common sense would say reposition the damn thing!

So what I want to know, the strain on the car because of the dyno and heat and what not could have caused it right? I mean it was off for a while then came back after being on the dyno. Now no matter how many times it is cleared, it still comes on. Please tell me I'm correct in saying that repositioning that sensor and clearing the code will fix it. Powerflow said to come in and they will reposition the sensor so it doesn't touch. Is this pointless because as far as the guys who did the chip are concerned the 'heating' element of the sensor is buggered and thus the whole sensor must be replaced. Stealers want R3032.10 after 10 % discount. That is too fcking much after the branches and chip raped my pocket already. What do i do? I'm scared damage was done after that time on the dyno. :dunno::dunno::dunno::bawling::bawling::bawling:
With this engine light on it is overfuelling...not cool!

Oh E46 318i btw.

F#$k.... dude thats hectic
if the sensor is fcked then you will have to replace it... moving the position wont help now
call the guys at diesel electric they can get a bosch sensor to match your one for around 1k - 1.5k
now you got me thinking twice about fitting branches :mmm:

Nah its not the branches, its just that they must reposition that sensor!

Huge difference after branches and chip though! Feels like a whole new car! No more holding back on acceleration or anything and after being chipped yesterday my part throttle map was messed which caused me to put full throttle just to get to a decent speed, so now it uses less fuel and less foot :) even with engine light on and much better responsiveness. Would definitely recommend a chip and tune.

fuck that they messed it up tell them they need to replace your sensor
get a quote from diesel electric dont show them that one
give them the quote from BMW
if they say yes then just get the part from diesel electric and say you found it cheaper
if they not willing to cough up 3k then say you are willing to pay in some but they have to help you out (tell them you will pay the difference in price) then get the sensor form diesel electric that way they end up paying for the sensor anyway...

If the wire burned to the exhaust then it will have blown the sensor heater fuse.

Check the circuit first is see if there is 12V on the heater wires...

White wires X2 is the heater (12V).

Black wire is the O2 sensor output

Grey wire is Ground

Only assume the sensor heater is buggered if it's getting 12V and you are still getting the heater error. You can also feel the sensor getting hot with the ignition on, it gets to about 500Deg celcius within 20 seconds.

I got Powerflow to move the sensor then went and got the light cleared. it went off, stayed off for like a 40km drive then the second i started driving like an animal it came back on. When it got cleared again, it still said oxygen sensor num 2 heating. I'm so fcking fed up right now.

@Rick540 if the sensor heater fuse is blown, does that mean replacing the sensor?

Diesel Electric said they only have the universal one and not the BMW one as it is only available from agents. Its an imported part. I ordered it from the stealers now, I just hope this is the last or I swear i will set this fckn car alight!!! I now know the love hate relationship Jandre has with POFS. 30k in the last year on replacements and repairs, as a 20yr old student and article clerk its fcking expensive!
