Lady driven???

:blueCry: as the title states, does a prospective buyer really place any emphasis whether the car was male or lady driven?

I see a lot of ads with the caption "lady driven"...
Will be interesting to hear your input..

When I read 'lady driven' I expect curb rash and dings/scrapes on the car.
I don't know many females who actually care about their vehicles :hammerhead:

On the contrary most inexperienced ladies or even gents at times will continue to drive on with a car being oblivious to all the warning signs..

For me the downsides of a "lady owned" car are:

Ladies in general aren't car people, and don't look after/baby their cars like we do.

Also they GENERALLY don't service the cars appropriately, check tires etc as often as we car guys do etc.

Positives for me that most women don't "race" their cars like we sometimes do. But the negative here for me is most women just want to get from A to B as soon as possible, they dont enjoy driving like we do... thus they will push the car hard before its even warm just to get where they need to be.

Whether the car is "LADY DRIVEN" or not, I'd rather buy from a dude that shares the same passion.

And whether this "LADY DRIVEN" thing is even true or not leaves me questioning the OP as to what is he wanting to hide by saying that?

when we talk amongst ourselves ,(my friends & family) we generally say that buying a car from a should I say previously advantage OLD LADY :tiptoe:is worth it ,but correctly said ,not all ,but most ladies don't care about their cars like we would
Just an example ,at my place of work here's an OLD lady who drives a 1991 E30 BMW 318i(bought new) in pristine condition, from the very first time i met her I've been tuning her to sell it to me ,regular services, never dirty in or out , there isn't a scratch on it
On the other hand a friend of mine also at work, drivers a 2000 toyota been resprayed twice ,oil leaks,water leaking in the car & I tell you,she makes me move out of the way when i see her coming on ,IT"S JUST ONLY A CAR:skit:

Unless I know which lady drove it it doesn't faze me when it comes to sales

If a feminist should read this I would have to go into exile... I see no benefit in purchasing a car that was "lady driven" because I have never seen a lady look after a car in a way even remotely close to that of a man. Walking around a car park at malls or shops I am horrified by how women treat their cars.

They are too fully laden with shopping bags and handbags and trying to control 3 kids and heavens knows what all else. So to get the car open, they chuck their heavy, metal-studded handbags onto the cars roof in order to find the keys. They get the keys, open the car, then chuck the huge bunch of keys with 17 keyrings on right down next to the handbag on the roof, if they cannot hold onto it while trying to wrestle the kids into the car. In this case, key bunch and bangles and rings slamming away at the doors.

Kids are in, she now proceeds to open the boot to get the shopping put away and grabs her metal-studded handbag and slides it off the roof so that too can be put away.

Not to mention shopping trolleys resting against the bumper of the car, car doors being bumped onto other cars, nails scratching the backside of the door handles, the window switches inside, etc. Make up residue all over the steering wheel and arm rests...

I have bought 2 e30s from ladies in the past. One of them was superb, and I ended up using that car as a daily for the next 10 years.

The other one was from a 70 year old woman. The car showed 112k on the clock. It was in fact beyond 300k already:fencelook:

Did it make me want the car any less?? Not a chance!

My point with all this useless information - You look at the car, you like the car, you buy the car.
Who cares if a woman drove it or not? Because just like everything else in life, there will be people from all demographics who is anal about preserving their belongings, and those who couldn't give a damn.

I'm with Fordkoppie on this one. Such comments means absolutely nothing to me.
I have seen badly cared for cars owned by both men and women, and well taken care of cars owned by both men and women. When I am interested in a car, I could not care less if it was driven by a man or a woman. Its how well it was taken care of, that will be a deciding factor for me.

For me the greatest concern with "lady driven" cars is the TYPE of driving the car is subjected to; by that I mean, in many instances, daily stop start of school runs / shopping runs etc.

The car is never (or seldom) driven over major distances where the fluids can warm through properly etc.

Then, and this is first hand experience since my beloved took over the X3 last year, the brakes.....oh the poor brakes :biglol:.... I think my M is the last of the late brakers :roflol:

In summary, I would rather buy a used car that had been driven hard but well maintained. Used for its intended purpose.

As an analogy, when I was still racing offroad bikes competitively, the common question when guys bough used offroad bikes was "has the bike been raced?".... the perception was that if the bike had been raced it would be wanked.

I pointed out to anyone who would listen that it would be better to buy a race bike from say KTM SA than from Jo Blogs the weekend warrior because the race bikes were meticulously maintained and serviced after every race. Anything remotely suspect was changed straight away. Joe Blogs the weekend warrior often does reactive maintenance; fix when it breaks.

Adverts say lady driven because the masses believe lady driven is a gentle life. Just yesterday i saw a car advertised. Very good condition (driven weekends only and by a lady) then i go through the profile to dig up more pictures. Notice the drivers seat set up in gangster position and finally i found the picture. Husband in drivers seat and wife in passenger seat. Advertising like that i dont like. Lying. Talking of approved dealer parts when that gearknob came straight out of midas.
