Wow...
What an event! the quote "if you invite them, they will come" held true this past Friday November 6th for the first ever BMWFanatics dyno event, And boy did they come in droves!
With an unusually short planning period between discussion and execution we were without doubt a little worried that we would not get the attendance we were aiming for however the word of mouth advertising and social media drive were set to prove us wrong. From setting up at 5pm that afternoon to the first car on the rollers at 6:40pm it was the calm before the storm with 2-3 cars in the line at any point in time till about 8pm, from there on it was pure bedlam as the spectators and competitors alike arrived in swarms like bees to a honey pot.
As far as the eye could see there was people and cars within the enforce park complex with all manners of parking attempts made just to get a sneak into the dyno action, in typical Durban fashion the crowd never waned till the early hours of the morning and the caterers from #teamskinnyhippo kept the crowds well nourished and hydrated. At rough count there was almost 300 cars parked within the complex and an estimated 750 strong spectators in attendance.
Some impressive cars graced the dyno displaying their mettle, owners passion and tuners skills as they all battled on the safety of a rolling road to achieve a piece of the goldware and glory...The last car was finished sometime after 2:15am that Saturday morning and the total tally on the rollers for the evening was 63 cars in total.
We as the event organisers of BMWFanatics offer our thanks firstly to the spectators and competitors alike, without your passion for motoring, events like these would not be possible.
To our spectacular hosts Stealth HQ and their staff, your hospitality is greatly appreciated, many a new friendship has been formed and we look forward to collaborating with you again.
To our benevolent sponsors, Max Motorsport, SD Solutions and Axis Engineered, many a competitor has a token to remember the fabulous event that your assisted in making happen.
Lastly to the team who put this together, each of you carried the torch with pride and it was warming to see many of the regulars step up and be counted, your effort will not be forgotten! #immensepride
In closing we ask for forgiveness on our short comings, we live and learn with each event.
Looking forward to the pics!
