What ever you decide remember that springs AND shocks should match each other especially when you've lowered it. I'm now experiencing some serious bottoming out....*&^%%$

Cool, keep us posted.

Ok so, changed front struts(Monroe), stabilizers(techno rod, I think), LCA Bushes (went with OEM E36 M3 saloon, thanks to Gizmo for his advice and help, I owe him another beer),OEM Discs and pads and changed the rear shocks (Monroe). Suspension work was done at Kwik-Fit in Jozi, Cnr Mooi and Main. Ask for Adrian, tell him Lev (that's me) refered you.

I'm am so happy with car, however the wheel balancing is off in the back, could have been that 'bump' in the road . Loving every minute in my car. Just did the brake, and took it on a 60 km (return) run up to Beyers Naude and I didn't want to stop driving.

Hope this helps :)

Nice one Lev, hope you enjoy many miles

I went to Motorvision (er somewhere in Pta ) last month and they said they couldn't find anything wrong...told them to re-check and one tech took her for a quick spin after which he seemed to think the bushes are too soft...??? Either way he said that my shocks are fine (even did a shock test) and I should maybe look at mounts, stabiliser links, and ALL bushes. I unfortunately I was pressed for time so I couldn't let them perform the checks...

Oh I've since fitted Koni STRT shocks at the rear, just missing the fronts now but that'll have to wait until I sort out the bushes etc

Bro, thanks, having good bushes does make a diff. My previous bushes where aftermarket and they didn't last, I believe spend the extra cash and get OEM bushes (Jozi city auto are very helpful). Also the shock mounts, Imcomex has them, Gandalf purchased a pair for his car and they look like great.

Big up on the STRT shocks, someday...

Yeah without proper bushes and mounts I can't even stay with a Toyota Quantum in bumpy corners (I kid you NOT...!). Funny thing is I fit OEM front/rear control arm bushes 2 months ago...didn't do mounts though, and also possible my swaybar links are no longer up to par. So I'll be doing all of those and will probably switch to Powerflex Poly bushes despite what everyone says...:fencelook:

Oh thanks on the Koni STRTs  hopefully the fronts will follow soon!

the one thing I can say with the M bushes you feel everything, its like I was rolling on the road. It can get a bit annoying at times, however when you turn into a corner, that all goes away:joy:

I also need to do my shocks ----> http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=24350

Agree with Sclass, shocks & springs should match each other

@Lev: Did you fit Monroe shortened shocks front and rear ? if so is the code E7034 (front) and E1114 (rear)

Stealers want R1200 for front shock mounts and R800 for rear shock mounts :argh:

You have M bushes? Are they interchangeable with non-M bushes? If so maybe I should rather do those than polys...

Aren't front control arm M bushes off-center to give a little more camber?

Bro, it was a GT code, the E code shocks etc are a tad pricey I think, but speak to them. They have the Monroe Catalouge there, it has shocks for e36 MTech, and normal e36 etc... you could read it and decide.

Shock mounts Imcomex have the Meyle units, PM Gandalf or Gizmo they could advise on those.

Hope this helps.

I have M3 Sedan(4door) bushes, yes. Wel they are the same size, if that helps. You could go with them. I didn't try finding polys, and so I went OEM+ (if i can say that). to be honest I was scared to go with aftermarket bushes because I was scared they would not solve the issues I had.

Ok the M3 coupe bushes are, but the Sedan are not.

Part number 31129 069035 (the last six digits are the important bit)
Call Joburg City Auto (Cnr Mooi and Commissioner, but Parts and Access. is on Mooi and Fox cnr.), ask for Klass, he can help. Really nice bunch of guys they are.

Use all info at your own risk.
