Keeping rims clean?

Hello fellow fanatics!

I had my E90 320d washed on Tuesday this week and today (Thursday) I noticed the rims are dirty already! And this is noticeable dirt (I'm not testing it with a white glove), this level of grime I'd expect after at least a week or so of driving. I have the standard 16" rims that come with the E90 320i/320d models.

Anyone have any suggestions to keep them clean? I read somewhere it was recommended to apply Mr. Min to the rims after it was washed to minimize dirt latching on, anyone tried this?

Unfortunately its a e90 problem.

I also noticed the break dust packs up like crazy after a day or 2.:thumbdo:

iv got the 18" option on my E90 320D

I would say its the products that you use on the rims that is either sticky or static

I'm not certain what products the guys at the car wash use, but this didn't happen on other vehicles I've had washed there. Any recommendations on what to put on the rims to make them anti-static?

apply wax after you have washed them

It's the soft friction material BMW's use - the wheels on both my car and my Wife's E46 get equally dirty.

Basically keep them clean and wax protection as Andrew mentioned is the key. Make sure that you also dry the wheels off properly when washing, otherwise dirt and dust is more likely to collect along with water marks.

Dark wheels are great for "hiding" the brake dust, but, I reckon you run the risk of allowing the painted surface to become badly contaminated and pitted by accumulated brake dust that eventually gets "burnt" into the surface - and becomes difficult to remove without scratching the paint.

Essentially you want the wax protection to prevent too much build up of dirt and brake dust, and then when cleaning it allows the dirt to wash off a lot easier!

After doing some more reading online on this topic, it seems this wax comes highly recommended: Rimwax by Smartwax.
There are some online stores that can send it to you but it seems the Fourways Midas as some in store too! Going to give this a try.
