JIMS 2013

Hey guys..

So I attended JIMS 2013 and went solely to see these cars:
M6 Gran Coupe, M5 Competition Package, X4, I8, I3 and all the performance parts from BMW, the Clio RS was also on my hit list.

I enjoyed it as I only went to see those cars, rest of the show was nice, but not my goal.

The M6 GC is by far the best looking 4 door sedan in the world, inside and out, its simply unrivalled, I was blown away.

The M135i fully kitted out was a looker, albeit a bit over done, but some nice add ons!

X5 is a big step forward in my view, looks fantastic in the flesh, has aggression yet unmistakebly X5 look about it.

I3 - Mann what a simple, focused car. 0 - 100 in 7.2, and all the CF, great city car, great great! You also get an option to use another BMW car for holidays, think its gonna change the game.

i8 - progression, in every sense of the word, it has changed the game, and makes all other electric attempts look feeble, its simply awesome.

Love the X4 as well.

4 series is sexy, no doubt about it, that sport version was really good looking, and wasnt even the M-Sport, cant wait to see em on the road!

How did you find the show?

Highlights?

Lowlights?

I must say I am NOT a fan of the i3, it feels cheap inside! I understand that its supposed to be an environmentally friendly car and green and so on but I feel like it could have been done a bit better :fencelook:

The new X4 is growing on me for sure and I do quite like the new X5, its a real looker!

Highlight for me at the BMW stand atleast was the 4 series, I have a love affair going on with that car... One day when I grow up :inlove:

Other highlights included the Honda NSX and SLS Black

Overall I found the show to be average, then again I didnt see anything outside as it was raining!

Shameless plug: My pics can be found in the other JIMS thread :fencelook:

Brace yourself! I thought the Audi display was the best in show! The gadgetry on display was remarkable - though it probably all added +50% to the sticker price.

On the whole i think the show was a rip off. MANY automakers stayed away. But us suckers still go in droves, 1 clip in hand.

Last year Mclaren, Ferrari et all were there, IIRC - this year I got to see tons of trucks!

Show was okay, plenty of manufacturers missing. For example 2 years ago Suzuki had this HUGE stand outside with plenty of cars and "Ladies" this year they didnt even pitch up. Surely they could of had a couple of cars. There also a couple of trucks missing and Bikes was a small corner!!!

To me the Merc and Audi stands looked the best, cars were spread out and nicely displayed, BMW was sort of cramped and the M6, M5 and M135i Mperformance were dumped at the back of the stand, I feel BMW could have been a bit more creative.

I also saw something strange a GWM M4, I would have thought BMW would have trademarket the designation "M4"

Some people say "it wasnt worth the money", "waste of Time", "Suckers go in their Droves" But if we dont go, then in a few years time we might not even have a Motor Show to go to, but saying that all manufacturers must also come to the party and have a display.

I know a lot of the manufacturers were put off because of the crazy prices being asked for a stand at the show, basically running from R5 mil to R15 mil for a stand inside one of the main halls!!:thumbdo: Bit steep if you ask me even for major OEM's!

Show was good IMO, I personally thought Audi, BMW, Merc and Ford had the best displays with Merc taking the top spot purely because of their AMG models, had loads on show. CLA and 45 AMG were very hot.

I agree 100%

It wasn't as good as previous shows. For me, Mercedes went to town and back... That S-Class... My f#cking word its amazing.

I really hope 2015 is better than this
