Something very important missing here. Where's the info on the average speed trapping? Other than hiding or removing your plates, there is nothing to help here. This starts from Van Reenen and continues all the way through.

There also appears to be dummy cameras around. I know someone that did a trip without plates and he said that a few cameras didn't even flash

I have travelled many times up and down, far as i know, the average speed traps are around the Maritzburg area. Could some please verify where exactly.

I believe those camera's are infra-red, hence why they do not need to flash

I just did that trip... i am all for road safety, but 20 odd cameras along the route is excessive...
Just a money making scam

It's around wayyy before PMB. Starts close to the towing service in van Reenen. Definately seen them before the Mooi River plaza too.

I received a ticket with this method in the Howick district around 18 months ago.

Hmmm.. Im not sure about silly season.. but i can verify that NONE of the permnanent cameras work aside from 2: the PMB market road one (its the last one as you pass the tail end of PMB) and the one just after the marianhill Toll.

The rest dont work.

The average speed ones do work. They start at Van reenens, you will noice the overhead arms that hold the cameras. There are about 6 sections they cover. They start and stop simultaneously in soem instances (i.e point A is one camera, Point B is camera from A - B measurement. But also start of next section B - C) so the middle one works as a stop start almost. Not all are like this. Some yellow lane manouvres have been known to work, But I see the left hand lane cameras are now tilted to cover the Yellow lane. They ONLY trap the front numberplate.

I unforunately cannot tell the exact locations, but I know they start at vanreenens and end In dbn (camperdown area). You will normally notice the arms just before the tolls, and just after the tolls as well.

Sweet, hope I cleared it up.

You know it.

The ones in pmb are mounted on the same overhead post as the road signs. It's before you come down town hill into pmb.

You will see them between the signs. Sneaky b@stards

:bravo::ty: Thanks CocoPops

My car has no front plates, I am safe :fencelook:

Cheaper to pay a bribe than to pay a fine IMO

I'd rather improve a cop's standard of living than give money to this bullsh*t government

We drove down with no plates today and law enforcement literally chased us and then pulled us over...luckily we had a permit hence we got no fine
