The S54 has its only little filter in the vanos. These are normally half blocked with some metal fillings which are assumed to be associated with the running in of a new engine. Considering this engine has been rebuilt, you make have additional crud in the vanos filter. Its a cheap cheap part to replace that doesnt fall part of any service schedules, might be worth a look. The dealer should have stock of this. Just bring a part number, because they probably wont find it on the parts system. Not an item that's commonly ordered.

That little filter can be cleaned and re used

Hey Herman, Thanks, I am shooting a music video tomorrow morning and leave at 11am and wont be available all day after that.

I really appreciate the offer. What time will you be coming through?

If you can't make it before 11, no stress. Thank you none the less.

Hi Chris, I was actually planning on bringing it so you guys could work on the car over the weekend.. If you have not schedule any work over the weekend, then I can drop it with you Wednesday evening on my way from the airport... Let me know what your plan is.

Part number 4

I bought every single part from bmw including that filter for my e36 when i rebuilt the vanos only problem is i had to wait 15-20 business days! no one had stock had to order it from germany i had the same issue on my e36 m3 but once all that was replaced along with the seal and rattle kit from moranor the car was very strong on top.

Crash if it was an install error problem it would have been there from day 1... do you think this is the case?

If you think its an install error talk to TuneTech, Budler and Sav about checking the timing and Vanos for you...

If the problem has come up after the rebuild talk to DrVanos and see what they say about the problem...

buddy dont forget about me im number one on your list:rollsmile:

Hey Chris, really sorry to hear of these issues! I would (if you have not already) give SupaQuick hell for that brake issue - could have caused a major problem potentially! Thankfully and luckily it came loose while you were slowly reversing with Burgy there to see and stop you from moving further!

Been reading through this and was also thinking Vanos solenoid issues - Vanos relies on oil pressure so Andy's links should prove to be very helpful!

Really hope you can now get her all sorted out! I agree with most that has been said here regarding work being done on ones car - better to DIY or keep a hawk eye on the process, and if the workshop working on your car has a problem with that, then remind them who is paying for the job being done! We have all burnt our fingers trusting workshops to do a proper job when in fact they usually make a hash of things that costs us in the end. :argh:

And yes, Jezebel is too much of a legend to give up on! :praise:
