Hello all!

As some of you may know, I have recently moved here to CT and needed a car really quickly.

http://www.bmwfanatics.co.za/showthread.php?tid=36774

Didn’t take me long to decide on a certain green e36 328i convertible. Saw it on the gum 1st and when I saw it was a Fanatics’ car I just had to go check it out! I’ve had the car about a week now and this is the first night I’m not driving her and have a chance to post!

I don’t have a background of driving BMW's and I don’t really know what I was expecting, but was absolutely blown away by the quality feel of the car. It's like the whole thing is carved out of a granite block, extremely solid! And WOW, does a straight 6 Beemer have a soundtrack or what!!:joy:

A full service history and an absolutely immaculate interior won me over and sealed the deal. It's a 99 model and is as kitted out with toys as an e36 gets I guess.

Like any old girl she has a few things to take care of to make her perfect but oh man I can’t wait to get started!

Here are some pics so long guys, I'll post my to-do list soon(probably later tonight lol). Cheers!
:ty:

Soz for the crappy night pics...

Well done bru.

I have one myself.
Orient Blue, '99 model.
The car is bullet proof.
I am nearing 270 000 km's.

Things to keep an eye on:
Dont open the roof without the car running. For some reason reason it may get stuck in an open position and throw the settings out.

Try to only use synthetic oil in your car.
I have been servicing mine at Tunetech for about 7+ years.
Shaun swears by synthetic oil and it has contributed to the longevity of my motor.

Other than that, service her well and she will provide years of joy.
BTW, I was going through my service bills over the last 7+ years at Tunetech. I have replaced the clutch twice. I have replaced brake disks, etc twice. I have replaced the radiator. Reset the roof twice.
With all of that, Servicing and maintenance has come in below R50 000. Over 7+ years.
And when I bought the car, they told me that it will be blind expensive to maintain off motorplan...

Thanks man.

The car is dropped 60mm in front and 40mm in the back. I got the original springs with the car but damn it looks too good to change now I think. As for a bumpy ride... like I said, I don’t really have anything to compare it to, but I don’t find it uncomfortable at all. The usual little things like taking on speed bumps slowly and watching out for curbs are, of course, things that you learn VERY quickly. One thing I’ll have to do soon is change the tires to a narrower profile as I’ve heard them scrape when going through heavy dips... they are 245/40/17's all round at the moment...

Great news ... many happy miles

Thanks dude!

I saw interesting threads of the mods that moranor sells for e36's, and saw that you have the TarrTech intake and strut braces on your car. Freerider too, i think. These are definately things on my to-do list, cant wait to check them out...

I saw your thread about you trying to find a e36 toy... She's out there buddy!

Hehe, yeah there was quite a bit of interest in the car when I was having a look at it... Right place, right time i guess...:=):

Thanks for the info dude!

"Bulletproof" is VERY good quality for a car to have!

This one just came from an inspection II service like 2000km ago. Wonder what oil it’s using at the moment? What do you mean by "Reset the roof"? There is a lot of cabriolet specific thingy's on my to-do list. Please keep a lookout for this thread when I post my list. As someone with 7 years experience with this model car I would sure appreciate your input.
