JB4 Installation

Hi Guys

I installed a JB4 unit and the car since did not start, it turns but no starting.

I then get symbols on the dash, for traction control , brakes, etc with exclamation marks next to all the symbols.

What could be the issues? i then tried to revert back to stock and same issue, not sure maybe I did not seat the connectors properly.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure, did you follow the correct installation procedure? Disconnect battery while installing?

You should speak to Twinz, he'll point you in the right direction.

Remove the unit. Disconnect the battery for 5 min, the ecu should reset.

If you connect up the battery and it still happens, Your ecu will probably have to be recoded by a bmw tech.

Any idea what causes this sort of problem? Incorrect installation maybe?

Check your sub connectors again. The very first time I installed it I was so sure I had it right but it wouldn't start. All the same errors popped up so I'm pretty sure thats your problem. Can be really frustrating the first time. Good luck!

Having to recode the ECU sounds very extreme.
By the sounds of things the JB unit is not getting power so check the power source is correctly connected. If that fails as everyone else said check your connectors and see if you haven't bent any pins. If that fails start from scratch, remove the unit and start the car in stock for to make sure something hasn't been damaged in the process.

Thanks for all the replies Guys, finally got it to work!!

removed the connectors and tried again, made sure the connectors were seated properly and lo and behold a piece of fluff was stuck between the connectors and the DME, removed that and all was well.

Car is running insane:rollsmile: just need to fit my DCI and clutch stop and then maybe import the VRSF DPs.

Will upload pics etc of the car and dyno

Cashmere Silver 135i, ran the car on map 5 and damn, quite impressed.

Now to do the DCI tomorrow and log the car and then run some NF Ultra for Dyno. See the guys in the states are making 340whp+ (250wkw) with map and DCI so thats what I am hoping for.
