ye i agree with you all.

After my gearbox went on the 330i i also wanted to sell it. But after a while realised why? It's kinda fun spending cash on the car when small things happen. To customize the car to my needs

I'm also thinking on the same lines... If the motor ever goes on the M I'll drop in a 328 or 325 and turbo it... Im sure it will be cheaper then buying a M motor...

Thats if the M stays.. wish i could keep the M and get a car for everyday for traffic driving...

M_Pow... dude you cannot sell that M, to find one in the condition that yours is in will be near impossible, naw man.

If you really need to, buy a toyota tazz for 30k for daily traffic, that will be LESS painful then selling your M even though it will hurt like hell, but you cant sell that car.

@illuminati: It's unfortunate you had trouble nearly from the start. My car went GREAT for little over a year. Then when things went wrong I decided to have it fixed rather than sell. It's still giving my kak to this day, but I still love it because I know what it's like when all is working like it should. You didn't really have enough time to fall in love with the 330i ;)

That audi should do you well. Post some picks.

LOL SS, I had my 330i for about a month then they got exactly the same one on the floor for R159k. My ex is still in the uncapable hands of BMW.

I'll get to clean the Audi tommorow & then I'll post some pics.

So after 5 months BMW phoned me yesterday & told me they finally got the problem. 5 months down the road. It was a 5 cent that fell in somewhere around the gear selector & caused a short on the gearbox control unit.

Sigh, a few R1000 bucks down the road, but I guess someone has a plan with everything. I haven't had a day's issues with the Audi, I still have a year under motorplan & 25k to drive. In the short while I had the car they replaced the whole carpet (not the small ones) because of a small tear in front of the front passenger seat. I'm receiving exceptional service from Audi & I don't worry about anything that might break in the near future.

In short, the A3 is'nt as aggressive as the 330i, but I don't have any headaches of kak service. Sovereign BMW can only improve & I really hope they do, because in three years I'll be replacing A3 (or my ladies' Micra) & I'd love to get either the 3l straight six I wanted from the beginning or I'll get the 2.0t Audi.

Well I'm glad you're having a good experience with Audi. Unlike someone I helped not an hour ago... New shape A4, Completely burned out clutch. Don't know if this was because of abuse or manufacturing fault...

Either way, 2 things are clear:

1)It's luck of the draw if you get a lemon - even if the car is new.

2) Depending how you treat a car directly affects it's life. (Drive it hard, and you will need to replace parts sooner).

Well... my dad bought a 1999 e46 320i back in December 2004, we got the car on New Year's day (Banks and their delays)... anyhow, she was a 3rd owner, 235k on the clock... we had her for 3years, and got rid of her on 330k... so, 95K in 3years, and all that went wrong was a battery that we had to replace, and a faulty fuel pump...

So every car is not the same hey, sometimes you are just the unlucky victim...

I would have bought this...

Getting a bimmer :
get 330i
Dont get smg gearbox - they are shitty.
Replace the front control arms and bushes.
then you have a wonderful car.
no other problems if you look after it.
BMW also allways needs their services, never skip oil changes.
I am driving my 5th bimmer, never had major problems , all problems can be fixed yourself. get to know someone with launch diagnostic testing kit, it can tell you ALL BMW fault codes.
