If I could only have 1 car it would be the cheapest daily and an older M car. The M cars work fine as a daily, but I feel
I’m wasting it if stuck in traffic or using it to run to the shops, just a personal thing. The tech and comfort in the new cars makes them fantastic for use all the time, but the fizz just isn’t there when you want that bit of extra excitement.

If you have an itch... then go for it I say. And with an E92 M3 or a 1M you certainly won't be disappointed with the move. Having said that though, I've never driven a 240i and I've been told that they are very, very special cars.

As awesome as the e92 m3 and 1m are, that 240i (and 140i) is just as lekker, and for everyday use, probably better. Tough decision this since you'll miss that low range shove, midrange might and higher rev enjoyment from the B58. It's also a lot more usable for daily use, as it's comfortable, quite efficient and flippin powerful. However, life is short, so if the OP has an ictch for an M car, may as well investigate. I think his mind is actually made up, and is just looking for confirmation on the move. Besides, from a financial viewpoint, acquiring a well looked after e92 or 1m will suffer way less depreciation compared to the 240i. Good luck
