If its just a straight piece of rubber hose you should be able to get it from most decent spares shops.

but there are some special end pieces to connect. do they just come out of the original and slot into the new pipe if i want?

you can use the bmw hose clamps on normal pipes thats what i did...

or is the plastic part broken?

From that pic it just looks like hose clamps and a rubber pipe to me, I could be wrong but I have not seen many pipes with moulded fittings on the ends on BM`s

The silver hose clamps just come off the hose when you loosen them.

Hydraulic / oil hoses have moulded pressed fittings but generally not on airlines.

i just drove to the spares shop with the covers off and use a flat screwdriver to take the hose clamps off... went inside and got them to cut me a new piece...

fitted the new piece using the original clamps took longer to drive there than put the new hose on

after refitting the valve cover gasket around 23h00 last night i decided to remove the pipe. i had to take my time getting it out cos the pipe is connected at difficult angles/locations. Plus all the dust and grime did not make it easy to pry off. also used a long nose plier to remove the twist-off plastic clamp at the rear.

i managed to get both metal clamps and the plastic clamp off the pipe. the ends of the pipe look like some oil residue. does this pipe transport a fluid or air/gas?

i have the sample to take to Midas but do I need to ask for some specific thermal rating or any other type/rating?

Check the thin 3.2mm pipe from the valve thingy on the fuel injection rail too. Mine was like chewing gum...

However, to answer your question, The pipe that you enquire about looks different to mine...
Partially pictured middle right:

If it is made of rubber, see if you can cut is say 10mm from the end, leaving enough room to just join in another pieces of the correct length. Basic plumbing really. But that just me, el cheapo, back yard mechanic. I live a risky Automotive life and don't recommend try fixing it :fencelook: Best is to get a new one from BMW. Try Goldwagen too.

By the way, on a car this age, the plastic parts were exposed to prolonged heat conditions under the hood, so plastic parts can be brittle and break easily. Just work with caution.

fuel hose will work fine... the oil is a bit of left over oil that the oil separator did not get out if there is alot then you should probably look at replacing the CVV...

I dont remember a plastic clip but maybe yours is slightly different...

i got a hose from City Hydraulics in Randburg for R20. Tried it last night and its a bit stiff and long(sounds perverted). did not want to cut it cos it need larger bends. it was gonna kink. probably get one from BMW next week. it was a real pain getting it on the front little plastic pipe so i did not put it all the way, just clamped it. i was afraid of breaking something. i used a spanner to leverage the plastic part but could not push it further without breaking something.

CVV = crankcase vent valve its the oil separator...

damn what pipe did you get? the one i got was not too stiff so is was not that hard to get on...

i also left the pipe a bit longer than the original so it does not have to bend so much because the my one failed on the bend like yours...
