Yes save up and keep the 320i stock its not worth the trouble. You will never stop working on this car and spending money.

I have always said, do NOT build what you can buy.
If your car is that sentimental to you, then keep it as is. It was never meant to compete with a Gti.

You will NEVER get your money back you going to spend on such a conversion, and it will end up costing more than just selling the 320i and buying a 335i. It will never be as a smooth ownership experience as just buying what BMW already build themselves, than one puzzled together.

If you want your son to drive it one day, it will make no difference to him, weather it is a build 320 or bought 335i

I say save your cash and keep your car standard. If you want a faster car buy a faster car.

Also 20K might get you a turbo and computer box for a N54/5

Thanks guys.... i'll take it in great consideration.. i can't see myself buying another e90 (i love sports saloons) even if its a 335i or 335D (more torque).. i am not the selling type.

Tell you what., i will do my research and see if a turbo on the 320i will be okay to bolt on. (not tamper with the engine or computer box = cause i want the engine to last) and get brambo brakes as the car will need better stopping power as entry level bmw brakes are really butter (i hope that shouldn't be more then 30k)

I have my 5 year plan all set out., i just wanna own more BMW's - so next in the garage is the collector item of the best engine ever made of the e60 M5.

then if all investments go well, the 2009 X5m or the Bmw 1m coupe. in the next 10-15 years.

The answer is "Yes, the E90 320i is too slow, if you want to use it like a traffic stop dragster. Otherwise, it sill get you from A to B in a reasonably acceptable time."

No offence bud. Your post makes no sense at all bud. I can tell you now, R20k will NOT get you a reliable conversion, but you seem set on it.

However have fun and let us know how it works out.

I agree with those who say no.I would definitely not do the transplant, you are going to have issues all the way down the line and when ever you need something that requires vin related info it is going to be issues. Coding, programming, cluster, gearbox wiring etc you have no idea. I have rebuilt a car before and those out there who have will agree, it is something not to be taken on lightly.

Agree, buy what you want and then do some mods for more power.

+1 You can hardly even do a X20xe swap in a Corsa lite for R20k anymore.

R20k will get you a huge cone filter and crap loads of M badges! or just put an intercooler in the front, no need to connect, but looks faster.

Just steer clear of those GTi's you spoke about. Say you low on fuel :biglol:

Okay tell you what i'll do to get me 20kw of power from my e90 320i before i start getting turbo's of heart transplants.

My people on the street have come with some homework that i've given - To do list

- sensors checked, crank and cam position sensors checked, checked if there are any blocked cats, any vanos failures, check crank case vent valve and vacuum pipes, the one that runs over the intake as these usually cause our cars to underperform.

Then only start moding.

- Decat the car (cats situated right on top, close to the manifold branch without moving the engine.

Remapping and doing a software upgrade from BMW themselves (tell them my car is under performing)

Then a full exhaust from the back.

What you think Gents?? can this get me my 20KW before i start going crazy with installing turbo's or heart tranplants.??

Be Brutally Honest neh.
