Hi guys, another daft question, but please help me anyway!

Maybe some of you can remember, a while ago i posted about my 325 against an audi a4 that wanted to race.
I took him on and...........................beat him!!
He got me on the pullaway but after about 100 to 150 meters i caught up and beat him.

Now i got another question.

Is it possible to spin or drift my 325i automatic? I noticed than when i engage the sports button, it stays in gear alot longer and revs much higher than in normal economy mode. So i figure if i keep it in sports and nail it into a corner or from a stand still the rear wheels should start spinning?

Everybody reckons cause its a rear wheel drive i can, but i am not so sure, because its an auto. I havent tried it yet, cause i am to scared of breaking my gearbox or popping the engine.

Please let me know, i will only try it/not try it on your advise.

One wheel will spin! drift will be imposible as you dont have a L/S or lock diff! If you step slightly on the brake just enough to keep the front wheels locked and then give it gas it should spin! but yes you torque converter will pack up and auto boxes are famous for their owners to walk home! so not advisable with your daily driver!

if you take a corner slowly and boot it down so it gears back to 1st you should make some one wheel smoke!

Thank you mate.
I was wondering about it, oh and its an e36 1995.

So only one wheel will spin then? And thanks for informing me about the torque converter, i allready dont feel to comfortable with the auto box, so i will avoid it then.

My dad was telling me, that back in the day (his day) they use to spin their old ford galaxies and impala's all the time, with auto boxes!! They would stand at a robot and then hold the brake in, then floor the petrol pedal, let go of the brake and the car would spin like a monster!!!

So thats why i was wondering, thanks mate, and now i will tell him about the reply....

Hey Gizmo,

I'm looking for a LS Differential for my 318iS. Do you have 1 with a ratio to suit?
also, what your opinion on the throttle of the 318iS M44? Are there any single bore - single butterfly throttles available to suit?
