Intro'ing me & my Z4MR

Hi, great to find an SA BMW forum!

So I picked up an '07 Z4 MR for a steal. It was a bit uncared-for but actually in awesome condition under all the grime. I've spent 5 months restoring it to perfect condition. I've learned a helluva lot along the way and when I get the time I'll document some of the jobs I've done for the benefit of other Z4 M owners who swing their own spanners. So, posts coming up (I'll try not to duplicate what's available elsewhere but to highlight some of the problem areas that I couldn't find answers to on the other forums):

Z4M lubricants and where to get them
Parts availability and common part numbers (To save you having to look them up when you need them)
VANOS issues (I've done the whole VANOS repair from end to end)
Cam timing (I have bought the BMW tool and am happy to rent it to anyone who needs it)
Serpentine / aircon belts
Spark plugs and coil issues
Headlight advice and fixes
Setting valve clearances
Hidden menus
General maintenance and cleanup issues
Ignition keys and coding
Lightbulbs - how to modify your halo bulb sockets and save $$$
Diff and gearbox oil change (to be done - Bruma Auto just mailed me to let me know my new drain plugs have arrived)

Z4M is actually an affordable car to own if you're prepared to do your own maintenance. Plus, I've missed having a mechanical toy in the garage to tinker with. Repairing the lawnmower isn't quite the same ;)

I viewed that car. Awesome spec (outside of that i didn't like the wood grain interior). Well done on the refurbishment.

Yeah, I wasn't mad about it to start with either. All my previous beemers have always been black leather with black interior, but I've gotta say, it's grown on me. And yeh @ spec, I checked the VIN online and compared it to the 2007 specsheet, it's full house. Every possible option available was ordered. Total overkill tbh ;)

And yes, live near Bedfordview, so Bruma Auto is a regular haunt.

Awesome, cant wait for some advice and lessons learned.
I am struggling with a couple of small things, got mine for a steal as well although currently mechanics seem sound.

WELCOME!

Cool, I'm busy typing up all my notes and will post as separate topics on the Z Fanatics forum as I get to it. The DIY forum seems a bit too wide-ranging, I think it would be more relevant to post them under the Z forum.
