I saw a lot of new members taking a beating if they didn't introduce themselves properly, so thought I would do so quickly in order to avoid the onset of the moderator’s fury.

Anyway, I am a retired mechanical engineer turning 81 years of age soon, and this is my current pride and joy:

Please excuse the bird droppings, but I seem to have a profound inclination towards a nap rather than cleaning my car after I have taken all my daily meds.:drink:

If there is a detailer who would be so kind to assist in tips on how to get rid of the etchings, I would be dearly grateful.

What is this old fart in his waft mobile doing on a BMW site you all may ask, but lately I have had this burning desire to buy a BMW to kind of re live a little bit of excitement under the cover of illusive youth the BMW brand portrays.

I want to get myself a BMW once the Bismarck has been paid off, which should be end of next year.

I know nothing about BMWs, so thought I would lurk in the quiet corners of this forum to learn more from the knowledgeable members and admin.

Regards,
Mr. C

Welcome Mr C.

As a retired Mech. Engineer I would have thought that you would have chosen more wisely than a MB.....be that as it may I am almost positive that a BMW will be to your liking.

Why thank you sir Greek.

I guess the reputation of mechanical robustness of older MBs overwhelmed me when I got this one, because it only became clear afterwards that that trait is long gone. Hindsight.....

Anyway - Because I am set in my ways, I want a manual BMW to offset the sluggishness I am so used to on the E class.

At the risk of being rude which is not my intention are you sure that a manual car may be the best choice?

I would have thought that with your advanced years an automatic may be the preferable route?

As I have already stated no disrespect intended

Maybe not. But the thing is I have my heart set on an e30 325iS. I have heard they were pretty reliable.

Those never came in auto from what I could gather, so unless someone is willing to undertake a manual to auto conversion??

Then when I die some youngster would be able to say they bought it from an old man's deceased estate..... cliche.
