Interior & Dash lights

Hi Guys,

Im having a issue in my 325 e36 Cabrio where as my Dash lights are not coming on, i have checked the fuses and done all the basic checks, is there anything else i can do, that might help ?

is it just the background lights in the dash/cluster? or all the lights?

if it is just the cluster, they have probably blown. lucky this is an easy fix, but requires removing the cluster.

Thanks for the reply, indeed it is the background lights on the dash as well as the back round lights on the electric widows, the thing is they come on every now and then? could it still be that they have blown ?

if it comes on then it is not blown. what you are describing is a symptom of a loose connection.

if they come on sometimes, then defs not blown.

maybe there is a ground wire that has come loose?

Thanks for the replies gents, i better take it to some body because i wouldn't have the slightest idea where to look for the ground wire :nonono:

 

[Quickie]

on the e46 there is a dimming switch that controls how bright or dim the dash light are.
my buddy had a poblem with his and it was a loose connection behind the switch.

Maybe replace the bulbs.

My one cluster light has been doing this for a few days now.
