Intercooler advise

Hi

I'm looking for some advice on an intercooler for my e46 330d.

It seems a 335i intercooler will not work as the radiator sits directly behind the intercooler and there is a fan in front of the intercooler. So I can't go deeper I have the go higher...

It seems to be the same intercooler as the Mr turbo coolers... which are the only two places I have found selling universal intercoolers that don't cost R10k.

Check if a BMW 520d stock intercooler will fit.
I have one for sale, that's come off my car as I fitted the PPK intercooler.

I'm looking for a significant upgrade the 2.0d coolers aren't very big. Probably the same size as mine now. Thanks anyway.

Water meth will be added sometime but the intercooler is tiny on this car and needs to be upgraded.

Honestly I would but the radiator is literally touching the intercooler and the fan had a cm gap in front of the intercooler.

The 330d IC is only 6cm thick. I would have to repositioned the radiator which will have all sorts of headaches to fit the 335i intercooler which is about 15cm thick.

Ah I see. You plan on going big. I just assumed you wanted to drop charge temperatures with current setup.

Would a 520d stock fan help at all?

I honestly can't say without having the fan on hand with the car. But I doubt it as the fan is right up against the front.

i experimented with fitting the intercooler in front of the pusher fan, removing the shroud leading up to the kidney grills.. then using the bumper stiffener as a support..

about the only way i could see to fit a significantly bigger ic without removing the pusher fan..

core is 550x230x70 .. slightly higher than ideal, but generic cores only come in so many sizes..
